  1. Ok, will start looking there, it does sound a bit further down the front of the engine bay though, and it's worse on startup than it is after I start driving.
  2. Strange Engine bay noise, Belts? In the last few days or so, my car has been making a strange noise, especially when first starting. The engine sounds the same for the most part, but there is an extra noise which I am not sure how to describe, somewhere between a rattle and a whir, but it doesn't sound like it's coming from inside the engine. The car feels fine to drive, still makes power, but the noise is new and concerning. Anyone able to shed any light? I've attached a sound file, but not sure how clear it is really. enginebaynoise.m4a
  3. Ok, I have an RB20 turbo high flow from Hypergear on my car. First link here is when I got my E85 tune. If I had a biggier fuel pump and injectors I could have made more power. http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/103095-rb20-turbo-upgrade-all-dyno-results/page-17#entry6577095 I got sick of E85 and living further away from the pump than I used to, so I switched back to 98RON, this is that tune. Didn't have the budget to go flex. http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/103095-rb20-turbo-upgrade-all-dyno-results/page-20#entry7553653
  4. It was a combination of things. Not just the price rise but the being able to just go and fill up where ever I happen to be at the time, makes my life a lot easier, especially since the E85 pump I was using is not as close to me as it used to be since I moved. Jez mentioned that Nistune can do a flex fuel setup now, and that would have been cool, but with needing a timing belt done as well, didn't have the coin, maybe something for the future since he has both my tunes available for me now. Also, e-flex might be 20c cheaper than E10, but at the United it's more expensive than E10, it costs the same as their regular unleaded. @pol1on1 the retune was $880, included draining the fuel tank of the E85 that was left over after the drive up there.
  5. Couldn't take the price rise, so I got it retuned back onto 98. Just got it back from Jez, still got a sweet 218rwkw. Will be nice having more than one pump to fill up from
  6. Couldn't handle the E85 price rises. Needed a new timing belt so got Jez too do that and retune the cat back onto Premium 98. Same parts as the tune below except a while back replaced the shitty old catback with a varex to an Apex Super Megaphone exhaust, super quiet, much better flow I think. This tune got 218rwkw @ 19psi, 196@ ~ 14psi.
  7. United have very rapidly raised their prices, I have been considering getting my car retuned back onto 98 so I can get some kms per tank again since I'm not seeing prices as low as they used to be at the pump, it's a joke how much they've raised it.
  8. I have for sale a set of used OEM RB20 coilpacks. Were good on my 15psi 208rwkw tune, but slight misfire on the 20psi 240rwkw tune, $100 Also an R33 GTST airbox but modified to take cold air from the front of the car with the original side intake where the snorkel goes closed up with fibreglass to prevent hot air from the engine getting in. Was in my car for the tune, only taken out because I found an R32 airbox, $130 Picture of it in my car Also have a used K&N Panel filter, used for about 10,000km, just needs a clean, obviously was also good for the 240rwkw, only replaced because I got a dry clean Apexi filter, $35 Location is Werrington in NSW, if interested either send me a pm or text me on 0410761078.
  9. I think you'll find that is for side feed ones in an RB25, I have a set of 555cc Nismos in my RB20 and they are purple
  10. Go to Repco, they carry those plugs in 0.8mm gap, run them on my RB20
  11. Hey guys, a mate and I are doing the F1 dream team this year, it might be interesting with the uncertainty around this year. If you're interested it's league code 520616 on http://f1dreamteam.virtualsports.com.au/
  12. It turns out I had a lot of room in the bolt holes to the cat to bolt it up higher on the cat which gained me a lot of clearance and I only had to raise the coilovers about 8mm after that to get it over the 100mm.
  13. Unfortunately I don't really have access to anyone with the experience to help out. I don't expect it to be simple, but I'll give it a go anyway, with some patience I'm sure I can work it out (touch wood)
  14. This long weekend I plan to spend vinyl wrapping my car to freshen up the look and hopefully bring the exterior up to the quality of the rest of the car. I've watched some videos and done a bit of reading on how to apply the wrap, but am just wondering if people have any tips on the process or some good videos and the like that they could share? Cheers.
  15. Thanks for the advice everyone, some good ideas to go on.
  16. The Dump pipe in my car is the one that was there when I bought it, but it doesn't look stock, I don't think it's this one, but it's similar, http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=17316&cat=276&page=1 In my completely untrained observation, it looks the cat back part will sit better if shortened (which I believe is Mark's suggestion?) and if the downpipe part of it was a tiny bit shorter the whole thing might sit a bit higher?
  17. Penrith area in Western Sydney. It doesn't seem like it has a lot to move, like it will probably only get me up to 1cm if I'm lucky, which was why I was wondering if shortening the dump pipe to tuck it up might be an option.
  18. On Saturday I was out and about driving around Penrith getting some errands done, but unfortunately on the way home got pulled over by HWP. He had a bit of a look at my car and informed me I was going to receive a defect for my car being too low. My friend and I had installed, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apexi-Hybrid-Megaphone-Exhaust-Muffler-for-Nissan-Skyline-GTR-BNR32-R32-RB26DETT-/380464405430?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5895721bb6&_uhb=1, and it seems to be sitting a bit lower than we put it, although it was probably still a bit low, not sure. The whole thing could have gone a lot worse than it did, he went back to the patrol car and after discovering I have never had a fine he came back and decided not to give me a ticket due to my good record, but he advised me that a notation would be added to my vehicle and if I didn't get it sorted out I would get a fine (do they really do this??), so I guess I better get it sorted out. Now I'm wondering what might be a good way to fix this apart from just winding up the coil overs and having the car sit a lot higher than I want it to, so I've had a few thoughts and wondering how feasible they are. 1) Get a few cms cut out of the dump pipe and get it welded back together. I was thinking this might be an option as this is one part of the exhaust that actually sits the lowest, the dump pipe and the cat, if it sat up a bit higher then it might/should (?) pull the pipe up a little. Could doing this affect exhaust flow? 2) Get some extra hangers welded onto the car and exhaust just to make sure that normal driving and jolting don't cause it to shift and potentially sit a bit lower then it might otherwise. 3) Possibly do both of these things? Thoughts? Alternatives? Oh if this should be posted somewhere else please advise, I wasn't sure where this post should go.
  19. Does anyone know if there is anywhere in Sydney I can get 4 new exhaust studs and a remover easily? I know I can order online, but am off work this week so if there was a place to source locally then I could get it all taken care of this week. Is for an RB20DET Thanks guys.
  20. I was driving home last night after filling up in the morning, so I know I had fuel, and almost to my destination I found that my fuel gauge was reading at a quarter. This caused me to kinda wtf and panic so I pulled over to have a look at the back of my car and see if I was leaking fuel or something, but no, there was nothing like that (thank god!). When I got back in the car I noticed that the gauge had started to go back up again, and then rested somewhere much closer to where I had expected it to be. Then after driving the rest of the way and keeping an eye on it I noticed it kind of floated up and down as I was driving. I have no idea what this could be, has anyone experienced this? Should I just be opening up the tank and checking the fuel level sender, not that I am sure what I would be looking for unless it is like visibly broken or something. Thoughts?
  21. Unless it's faulty I doubt it, my one is running a stock BOV, no problems at all.
  22. +1 for Penrith, well and lower mountains, but I'm out here.
