  1. Dontyellplx or whatever. A silver 33, Oh, im stupid I dont even know if hes going out. Sorry. Im going to go do some sanding
  2. Take the roller for Chris if you can. If you see this in time......
  3. Block sanding, round 2. It takes a while, each part has to be sanded in the correct way so there no grooves, finger marks, flat bits on curves, etc, and so the guide coat does its job.
  4. Wet sanding is messy but leaves a good finish. A bit of water on the roof to see how smooth its going.
  5. Welcome, looks like you may get a job real soon. Youve gotta check out the Brindabellas, The Cotter, Uriarra, The roads up there can be real fun. Basically the mountains to the west. Just be careful everytime you go out there, first lap should be for checking the road is hazard free. There can be rock, trees, gravel etc on the road from storms. There are some nice twisty bits and its not very far to get there. If your into dirtbikes, its pretty much a state forest playground from here to Gundagai. Yes its huge. If your into prospecting, go the Brindies again. Sapphires are lying around on the surface, and other stuff too. Remember the lakes in town are basically stormwater settling ponds, not very clean for swimming in. Not at all. So if you like fishing, carp in the lake, or go the mountain dams for trout and cod. Also the south coast is only an hour away, Batemans bay, Nowra, etc, beautiful down there, great fishing, and the food is awesome. The first time you wake up on a clear winter morning and see the snow on the mountains is real nice. Anyway thats the area i like and know the best, i can show you heaps of cool stuff up there. And Belconnen, ive always been a Belco boy, i know this part of Canberra very well. What side of town are you on? Ps: Welcome to the biggest country town in Aus, far more rednecks than public servants.
  6. A coulple more coats of primer on everything today, and a guide coat. 3l of primer used today... with all the bits and pieces it uses a bit of paint. Next, sand again, and fill the scratches and tiny imperfections. The guard, door and bonnet will need a few skims, sands and guides. Its all pretty good except for those 3 areas of damage. Those areas can be re-sprayed in guide coat on their own. Then a final thinned out coat of primer, nice and smooth.
  7. Now im getting old..... Hair is growing out my ears. And jalapenos makes my butthurt. But not a cars style or whatever badge you want to put on it. My car is the way i like it, yours is the way you like it.
  8. Love it when a pro gives us his hard earned knowledge. Those bits look amazing, now i want to polish everything. Thanks Mark SAU is great for this stuff. Hey Mark, what do you think of clearcoating it? Does it last? It seems to look ok on the bits ive done.
  9. Wow.... i never thought about it, nearly 4 years for me, and i still feel like a newbie to skylines. But when im working on it, i now know all of the nuts, bolts and screws. I dont have to organize them, i know where they go. I think the variety ways to mod a Skyline make it one of the most interesting cars ive owned. Hence the feeling that ive only had a small taste of the magic that is possible.
  10. You could put an AC Schnitzer or whatever that tuning company is, badge on there. Hmm..... i have a few American bits. Time for a Chev badge on the 32 This thread makes me laugh so much, ill try no to whore it.
  11. Chop it up for panels and parts. Chris said: Lot's of learning to be had and plenty more to come. It's funny how the more you learn the more you realise you really know nothing at all haha Couldnt agree more. Haha the sht ive wasted my time and money on...... I can only hope i know better now.
  12. In Australia our racing is organised by CAMS. They set all the rules ans regulations, they have the requirements of roll cages on their web site. If you can weld well, maybe you could make your own, and use the guide to make a safe cage. http://docs.cams.com.au/Manual/GeneralRequirements/GQ11-Schedule-J-2014-1.pdf
  13. Very nicely done, i like how the middle bit lines up with the bar, looks like it was made to be there. Maybe charcoal to match the bar?
  14. Now i want a GTR badge.....For the Volvo The fakies go with undercar lighting and massive bodykits. Cheap broad minded persons bouncing to the duff duff. Which actually is heaps of fun when your 17. You cant expect 17 year olds to have good taste, they havent had time to develop it. broad minded person lol, like the god thing, its a good idea and funny.
  15. Looking for a dark green, a little darker than Holden poison ivy. I will try a bit of gold ghost pearl and see if i can do it without stripes. Spraying tricoats (colour, pearl, clear) is tricky. I am a member at my local club: http://www.sdmahillclimb.com/Start.html I have only raced there, and a couple of laps at Wakefield once. Got some more paint today, have to wait till thursday for weather to be good for spraying. 4l, plenty of primer to sand into dust. Gotta learn when to stop.
  16. I hope this helps those wondering how to hook it up:
  17. Awesome. I really like your work. Will you have a roll cage for safety? And side intrusion bars? The door is now unsafe, if you get hit there, you will be crushed.
  18. Some primer on the plastics, and another coat on the car. Wanted to do 3 but ran out of paint after 1. oops. Its a bit crowded in there, gotta be careful lest i bump wet paint.
  19. No, primer. Boring old flat grey. I wish it was ready for colour, but lots of work still. All the fine details. Im only going to show colour on the test panel until the full buff is done. Then i will reveal it. A bit of suspense for fun.
  20. Out of paint. Got one coat on everything. Why didnt i check... damn, have to get more tomorrow. Its a bit crowded in there with everything hanging up or on benches for spraying. New gun works ok, i need to spend more time setting it up well. I think im getting too much overspray and not enough fan width. Ill have to get it perfect before i do the final coats. Or the clear will be sht.
  21. Fighting giant spiders, trying to prep for spray. Bastards give me the willies, cant wear my overalls ever since i found one in them, waiting for me to get in there with him.
  22. Colour and clear? Well it depends on how well i smoothed it all out, hopefully most of it will block back nice, and ill only have to work on a couple of spots. The plan is only to re spray those spots where i have to, then black in the doors and under the boot. All the plastics are good and will only need a rub, trackday bonnet may go black to save time, and trackday guards will be used to experiment with the colour, pearl and clear. When its perfect, ill do a prime/seal coat, rub that with 600, then 800, dust it off, then the colour, then pearl then clear. Wait 6-7 days to cure (actually will do more mods and maintenance during this time), final rub with 1200, and buff. Then put it all back together. Its taking a bit of work because my car is so bent. A straight car is waaay easier. If you had no issues with different paints and repairs, you could just scuff it up and spray. Mine had issues with the paint, so it had to be stripped back to metal. Just paint stripping is a lot of work. Then i saw all the repairs, but stripper fks bog so i had to re-do all the old repairs too.
  23. Ready for more primer. all the fiddly bits too
  24. Try the coarse one, then fine. Takes some time and effort, buff untill the haze is gone. and clean off residue
  25. Josco is what your thinking of. I find its the most powerful You can polish too much if your not careful, then its not flat anymore and looks like chrome plastic. oops Oh.. and a clearcoat, never polish again.
