  1. Had my work party last week which was very sedate as I was driving. This wasnt the case last night though for my girlfriends one. Her company had hired out the MV Lousiana so we cruised around the Yarra for the evening. Way too much alcohol which resulted in me doing some horendous dancing and yes I am that IT geek from above! The result was chucking up at 5am this morning and not being able to keep any food down all day. Some good pics but fortunately I managed to escape the lens all evening!
  2. Hi all I am considering buying an R34 as they seem reasonably priced at the moment and a good selection of them over here (even if most seem to be in NSW). I am not really sure which engine to go for so jsut wondering if some people with R34's can give me opinons and if possible any tips for buying said specced car. Thanks in advance guys and girls.
  3. The good thing with low power cars is the time it takes them to speed up. Yeah people will drive like idiots no matter what car but it will help reduce those who want to open a powerful car up quickly for a short period. That will help. 26 is a bit old imo but older than 21/22 I would go for. Experience is crucial at that age and another year makes a massive difference. Just my 2c worth
  4. yep we are. Cheers for the advice guys
  5. Hi all Does anyone know the rules on selling an uncomplied car? I gather if it is not registered then it does it doesnt need a road worthy (for VIC anyway). Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance
  6. In short there is no answer that will solve the problem, no matter what people suggest. Personally I would like to see anyone on P's in a reduced CC car i.e below 2.0 but that won't solve everything either. I started that way and worked up and am glad I did.
  7. ben1981 - you hit the nail on the head. I'm not going to get political in a remorsful thread as it isnt the place but I do agree with your views.
  8. heard about this on the news down here and thought there can't be that many R34's not known in Australia that are not on here. Condolences to the families of those involved.
  9. If you havent sorted a laptop yet, PM me and I will see what prices I can do you on one as I can get hold of quite a few. Not Sony though.
  10. Sounds like a great idea and with a bit of luck my car may be on the road! If not I may walk down to meet some of you guys.
  11. 98,99,00 were the best dance music scenes when Ibiza really made a name for itself. I bought a lot of albums during that time and my all time favourites would be Ayla - Ayla and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar. I was a big Rave fan back in the very early 90's so have a lot of Mp3's now from the likes of Force and Styles etc. All mine are from Europe where they seem to be cheaper and more readily available. Reminising is fine but it can't get in the way of enjoying the current day
  12. We had it on a couple of items of farm machinary that were renewed recently so just seems standard print as they are far from high powered!
  13. I live in Brighton so not too far away either
  14. If modifications were not so strict here I personally think the situation would ease. Why can punishment be limited to drivers causing a hazard to other people with the manner in which there car is being driven. The import car scene has some of the safest drivers I have seen on the roads, good clear signals, safe distance between cars etc. If a car has something that is absolutely detrimental to the safety of its driver and other people, it should be defected. What about all the vehicles with one or no brake lights? Why so many? Don't get me started on unmarked Police cars and speed traps!
  15. The tag has something to do with it in some cases but not all. Something like an exhaust back box you would be hard pushed getting it through even if it was labelled as a gift without getting taxed.
  16. I have been told I will be hit with 34% for my car of the original purchase price but have not had that confirmed. I am expecting that anyway. A mate who imports has said it is 17% for bits but he was also the one who said 34% for the whole car so you are probably none the wiser from reading this!
  17. Probe - steer away from. Not much in the way of aftermarket parts unless you import from the US. Exactly same scenario as the UK has. Next door neighbour but one had one and had more than his fair share of problems despite the car being brand new. Wouldnt recommend one.
  18. thanks for the link, I will have a look.
  19. From what I remember the guy had done everything and had it certified by an engineer. Its not RAWs as it is over 15 years old from what I understand. If it helps I am chasing side intrusion bars from a company in Queensland but I cannot remember the name of them.
  20. Am going to have another look but dont have much to go on
  21. Hi all A couple of months back someone posted a thread on how to comply a skyline and the costs involved as they had done it themselves. The side intrusion bars came from a company in Queensland I think. I have looked through the past 20 pages but cannot find the thread and it doesnt help that I cant remember the title! Can someone put a link up to the thread please so I can read it again. Thanks in advance
  22. HeathGTST - thanks for the info. I had a look round the site and there are some good bits. I may contact him and see what he can do. Cheers for that
  23. when I applied for my 16 year old car's import approval, I enquired. Sticking at 15 from what I was told by them, just to throw a spanner in the works!
  24. smooth sailing really although was never on P's which seem to give other drivers a good excuse to cut you off (my girlfriend is a P plater). Had a couple of close calls but you learn and move on.
  25. Thanks for the replies guys. I will try the Tyre Factory then first and go from there. I shall try Tru-Fit Mufflers as well. Any more for any more? Thanks all.
