  1. Never fill a cars tank "all the way up". (ie.to the nozzle). It's plain dangerous. If I had my easel and crayons I could explain betterer.
  2. There is actually a word for this.....when a fluid/liquid wants to absorb water. Is it Hydroscopic? Good and important thread!!
  3. LOL---Glad ur the sort of bloke who can take a joke...that's ace. OK...Air-con deal......well it's quite simple actually. Any compressor likes to be used, like all sealed and rotating mechanical devices. The seals and bearings in these units that make them work the way they do tend to be like girls,........... ignore them and hey get pissed off very quickly. Switch on the compressor once or twice a week (at least for a few minutes) so the seals stay fresh and the bearings stay lubricated. What can happen, and I've seen this, is that the compressor gets turned on once in a blue moon and then suddenly seizes, (expensive trick that one, makes a great sound too as it lets go!) Drive belts break, and all sorts of wonderful things happen, simply put. Do you get the drift? Anyways, hope this helps a tad. and..........I hope your bum doesn't hurt too much.
  4. Don't worry bro.....me neither!! I just unplug the battery, (open the circuit), and if there is an E2 or Eprom that stores the 'memory' we're trying to reset....then it's pointless too.
  5. Hi inissane, how long exactly did you do in jail? Seems that you've got the main stuff covered inissane. Don't worry about the rust on the discs, this is only surface stuff, and a gentle/safe drive will have them sorted and looking normal again. Get your AirCon cranking over too...a must!! (if u have one?) Someone mentioned fuel??....this will be stale, don't panic, use it! Once all that petrol is gone, if you really are concerned, change your fuel filter and fill up!! Are your tyres square yet? So, how long did you say you were in for? Anyways, let us know how you go!!!!
  6. yep..'gold'.... the no more nails used on my car came apart 6 months ago! what a joke!! Anyways, the stuff above looks shit hot and shiny bright, use that...or... Do what I've done, remove the remnents of gluey muck and that's it. Nice big hole now!!! Oh yeah!!...I had to change my fuel filter as it got clogged from the goop they used to attach the adaptor and car wouldn't go!! All ace now, but!!
  7. Tell it like it is Yap!! That's what it's all about!!
  8. Hi M32. Hicas and that switch have nothing in common....first up!! It's a 'comfort' type of control. It was just that the 'super-hicas' variants tended to have these more up-market' extras, like that 'fan switch'. No resevoir in the boot for Hicas.....that I've ever seen....electric, unless it's the earlier version (which you may well have!!) or 4WD? Yep, a nice quiet location and you'll hear the whirring sound of the fan.!! R32 wire diagrams are available on this site.....somehere!! All the best and tell us what you see (hear!!)
  9. Sorry 3LIT3, it wasn't you who was the one wanting me to PM you and have a 'chat' rather than "hiding behind the forum"...what ever that means?? We're cool? I do see your point, and appreciate that....well said.
  10. Hiding.....??? nup, never...don't need to! Paranoid.....maybe one of us is? Your mobile number, why would I need that? For advice? Give it to the worried bloke who started this thread. Thanx anyway.
  11. "Add Slide To Your Buddy List" "UP YOURS COPPA " Yep, we're the little kids!!! Just trying to help the guy!! Anyways...I guess it was just an indication fault after all...as his engine didn't blow up 5 seconds ago?? Honestly..it's not a battle of wits here (I hope) .... We're just people with something in common. Skylines and being helpful?? If someone agrees that's great, if someone doesn't......that could be even better! It's called looking at things from 'all' angles. Anyways...have a great week guys. Mark superspit.
  12. Hey Pentae...long time no speak!! Mate...not sure if these things are cable driven (?) Get that established first, that way you may just have to 'shake' or play (gently) with the wires behind the speedo!! (intermittent connection????) anyways, I'm interested in this thread!!
  13. Ok, the first switch is also in my "Super-Hicas ' Silvia (an up spec S13). Now I believe this to be a 'de-ioniser' with hi/lo fan setting. You can actually hear the fan spin when the ign is on (engine off, all ign lights on), and your parked in a quite area. Do you also have that big plastic hump on your rear parcel shelf? Hope I'm right with this???? (I got this answer off these forums!!) Secondly, with your 'fold-in' mirrors, they are both supposed come in/out at the same time!! (for sure!!) These things do fail sometimes. You can actually try to service these yourself (they're expensive to replace, let alone find the right colour!!) Tricky, but sometimes a good clean and wiring check sees them going again!! Hope this helps, and the ioniser info is correct!!(?)
  14. Yes Morgs...and I reckon, going back through these posts, that I have already. Thankyou, champ!!
  15. All seems normal?.....then chances are, if you know your car (sounds like you do), it is normal...minus your crummy gauge!! Keep 'bumping' your post 'till you find the answer on a price for your sender/gauge!!! You'll get it !! PS. Keep monitoring the situation, just to be safe...and ...goodonya!!
  16. Yap....do a little homework, check the 'logical and simple' things as above, and if in any doubt or if you do indeed find something that might backup you have a 'hurt engine', then call for the T-Truck. But generally, Electronics are almost always prone to bursting before an engine does. PS. I take it that you actually do check/service your oil regularly, I may have taken this for granted that you did!! PPS. You're pobably out cruising as we type this 5hit out!!! In that case.....Good Luck!!
  17. mmmm......I wonder if people are helping sometimes, or just accelerating the ageing process of humans. Read the forum threads so far?
  18. G'Day fellow 'liners, hey was...er....anyways. What's the Best way for me to bleed my clutch?? Easy way? Do it from the master cylinder? Other points I should be doing it from? Anything to watch out for etc etc.? Just feel that I should be doing this, see if I can't feel any difference? Clutch has had no work done to it in 10 years (life of the car), so I'm interested!! ...other than new spiggot bearing!! Come back? Mark Superspit
  19. Ther u go !! Cube and d00dz have similar thoughts!!! Check it!
  20. All potentially valid points here. But rather than scaring the Bejesus out of this poor guy, let's analyse what you have at the moment. Was (is) the engine oil abnormally hot and smelly (check via dipstick or oil filler cap??). Has the oil got any traces of 'darkness', compared to say...when you checked it last week for example. Is the engine temp also showing hotter than normal. Noises, do you hear noises from the engine itself? (clanking or 'tappetty' type noises). Does the interior of the car smell odd (fumey?) other than the normal petrol smell? I guess what we are trying to ascertain here is if there are any other 'changes' that would back up an actual and not 'indicated' fault.(??). After all, you could simply have a bad 'sender' unit going to the oil pressure guage, and that's it. (Indication of a fault rather than an actual fault??). Idle your car to perform these basic tests, or do small road trips up and down your street (safely) to simulate correct operating temps. Look for these things, drive cautiously, if you have to at all, and get back to us!! Superspit Mark. PS. '4D_Sleeper' could well be spot on the money here, keep that in mind too!!
  21. Enka- fil (brand that's about 30 years old??) Orange container??
  22. 30 mins for R33, never done an 32 before. Imagine it couldn't be too much different. Would u believe that there are guys in these forums that actually do it way quicker than that!!! 5uck!! like to see how many scratches they put on their car!!! Yeah, if you lived closer, be a pleasure!!, and we'd take our time about it too! I've since confirmed that my Platinums should still get close to 100000km's on a turbo car, with few mods....ace!!
  23. Man, with logic like that, we'd all have to agree with you!! But, practicality often rules out there. After slightly raising boost (whatever way you choose to do it)....... You could go Splitfires $700-$900 (to allow larger gapping of plugs and consistent arc travel.) Or...10mm socket tool and 30 mins of your time to decrease plug gap so arc doesn't 'blow-out' (like a candle in the wind). Let me see,,.....when I get more money...I'll go the splits....'til then, I'll re-gap!! Bet you'll find it hard in a daily driver to tell the difference!! Anyways....... Superspit Mark.
  24. aahh yes. the proof really is in the pudding!
  25. this makes sense...thankyou. I'll inspect this catalogue!! But I'll stick to the original OEM model plugs then, and go for another 30k ....at least!!!! Regards everybody...you guys are sic as.
