Sorry man, I thought my whole point was about getting experience, in any sort of 'lower power' car, maybe just for a year(?).....you don't like early Silvia styling, I don't like the thought of inexperienced youngsters driving high powered machines....I'm with your old man on this one!!

ahh, G'Day Skliner's !! (sup) enough of that crap...........Does anyone know where I can find this info... How many registered (on the road) model R33 GTS/GTS-T's are there in Australia and then in Victoria alone; (not interested in GTR's, or are they considered to be 'Skylines as a whole' by the road authorities). I would also like to know, for comparison sake, how many current model Commodore and Falcons there are registered. I know it's a big call, but I just want to direct the answer to a couple of knuckle-head work-mates who keep on saying that the (R33)Skyline is "so fucHing common....er, like commodores...er...'burp'...you see them everywhere!!!" Rather than be like them, I would like to present some comments that are a little more factual and better presented er...burp. If someone can just point me in the general direction?...... anyways Skliners, chankya! SSMark.

hi 'newb', are you a 'NEWBE' to the Skline scene or the drive scene???? the non-turbo R33 skline (when found in good nick), is still a bit of a let down. What I mean is, these cars are designed primarily for use with a wizzer. Most insurer's don't give a sh1t if it's NA or Turbo (the price is similarly high with some mobs, if they will insure you at all!!) They still 'go' at least as good as commondore/falcahore (probably better), but damn, unless you're totally in love with the look of the 33 (like I am), just get a little NA 91-93 Silvia (heaps around for $6500-$10000)with a 2.0 litre manual tranny. They're economical, handle/stop/driftwank well and are easy and great fun to do up....with the money you'll save on getting a 'half-baked 33' .(sorry N/A ers...I just know ur gonna roast me on this one!!) Heck newby..........u r gonna ding it in next to no time (and that's normal unfortuneatly), just learn to drive well and more importantly, learn about the other d1ckheads out there. Hey, But you got the cash..............and you did ask? Mark.

nope......good point!! But wouldn't the reading of the gauge depend on where it is tapped into? ie: ......tapped straight into the plenumn, your point is true (plus you've blown my leaky hose bracket out of the water 'cause there are none left at this point) But if ur gauge is tapped well prior to the plenumn (like mine is at present), chances are there could be a leak after the gauge tap. BUT...aha...if you had 2 gauges (in the interim) you could 'narrow down' the vicinity of that leak!!(??????) I'd bet that this skliner has got a gauge tapped well prior to the plenumn.(?) and therefore his gauge shows boost (it is there!!), but it's not going where it should. It just doesn't sound like timing or plugs to me. (i'm sure he'd be 'complaining' differently if it was??) wotdurekonmate? SSMark

yep yep yep yep.............I totally concur Inasnt!!!!!!!! Mine gave the same effect regardless of boost pressure I manually dialled in. It was found to be just a silly loose big hose clamp just prior to the plenumn. Tightened her up and back to normal. I feel your pain, but ur making boost (pre boost-gauge anyway...and that's all that matters!!!), it's just not being sent to the right location cause it's VENTING from somewhere to atmo!!! You'll be fine! Just check everything (hoses/clamps) and don't take anything for granted. .........unless ofcourse your turbo really is stuffed!!! SSMark

It's gonna be a long 3 months....
superspit replied to |PRESA|'s topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've also PM'd you. -
Now, just don't go thru a 'lazer-wash', and you'll have a 'sweet as' look for a long time!!
-
Hey FLO (GTR), was it you that was in my office a couple of days ago talking to me about this? Idea sounds way cool. I'll talk to you soon on the phone (if that is you!!) :headspin:
-
No, not 'ironic' my friend..............just subjective (ie.your very own opinion/taste). I too cringe when I see a beautiful 33line with the S2 'lego' front end!!! Go figure. And....like yourself, me thinks the S1 tail is quite lovely, for a stocker!!!!!!!!!

Nissan Thrust Skyline. what is it
superspit replied to carlo's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
mine says Nissan LAP Skyline..........i was a bit worried at first, i thought that it was one of those illegal imports only for race/spares type of car. NUP!...L.A Performance............ sounds kookey cool but! -
Hey K, yeah, I had the same problem with my 95T with water in the rear right lamp. ended up just pulling the thing completely off the car, re-sealing it with non-acidic silicon (can be cut-out in you next accident), then re-applying while semi dry. Also, running a small bead of silicon around the upper seal (while the lamps is installed) also completely keeps water out. (don't worry about using silicon, as it does less damage to your car than allowing water to 'come in and stay). I bet that on warmer days, the water 'condenses' and appears on your rear windscreen??????? It eventually kills everything in your boot!!! As for series2 Sklines'....I much prefer the very last series 1's. Their front bumper looks more aggressive (as opposed to the odd looking round indicators of s2). The last S1 has most of the s2 stuff, just cheaper and better looking front...mmmmmm...very subjective thought  !!! Anyways....... SuperSpitMark.

Hey Skliner's, 'tis me, the guy who started this topic! (sorry) Just as an addition to my original thread.............. My fuel economy......crickey's (I can now actually afford to buy a nice lunch!!) Normally when I put in $20 of 'expensomax', I get 100km ($30 then 200km etc). I've just hit the 150km mark on 20 bux!!!! Boost went down to 7-8psi as opposed to 10-12 psi before I got pulled by 5-O. I miss the thrilling take-offs, but maybe the money I save will get me a GTR front mount sooner than I thought I could!!! Anyways.........what's better?......LineTake-off or money saved (simply put!!), potentially going towards more 'legal'(?) power in da Front-mount. Da Muney or da Box?

coz..coz..........well...coz.........it's white, and er........ IT'S MY BABY!!!!
-
Hey Sky, you know that really expensive carnauba wax mum bought for us for our birthday........and you'd like, spend half the day getting it on there and then saying to yourself..."wows. I's dids a reallies good job upenhere, Master!". well after a couple of 'drive thru's' of the lazer wash, it's all gone............. Man they use some killer chemicals in that machine!!!!!!!!!!
-
I steam my engine every month......always take my Aldi plastic bag to cover the foamy filter............electronics and fuel/air are sealed units, as long as you don't flood the motor and other areas with a 'Noah' amount of H2O, she'll look foolly schick afterwoulds mate! (use a spray -on -rinse -off wax also, to get into those nooks and crannies and prevent rust! PS. "it's just a car".....it can't be your real mates saying this (they never would????). What sort of cars are theses 'A to B' people driving that say this. (I'd bet you they're company cars or sh1t deathtrap boxes!!
-
don't ever let anyone 'lean-up' against your baby. It's more than fingerprints they'll leave. Your 'true' mates will understand this concept. ........just as with the weather, if it's bad everyones car (loved or not) looks equally dirty!
-
all done, not difficuly at all, as the ashtray and facia area come out soooo easy. The cuting of the cig lighter diameter is the slowest bit......but done, it can be!! Feedding the little airpipe is a breaze too. I took out the glove box and ........found the engine bay grommet. easy install Craved. (1 hour total) 2"Speco Guage $45.00 complete!! give it some thought! superspitMark
-
why not just remove your cigarette lighter and socket, shave the hole diameter a poofteenth more, and 'slide in' a nice 2 inch Speco guage with a black bezel. Bung in a Dick Smith BLUE L.E.D with a 300ohm resistor in series inside, instead of the stock dorky globe and................Total Class!! Mine looks nice!! I'll put picks up if u want. And... as a bonus............you can actually read the guage when in 2nd, 4th and 5th Gears!!! NB. In the real world, you're not "checkin' out da boost" all of your driving time, only every now and again just to see how your baby is going. If u need to look at it all the time, then maybe, you shouldn't drive around where other people are co-existing!!!!! SuperSpitMark
