I'll have some pics tomorrow probably. Going to go down (all 500 metres away speedworks are from my work) and take some pre-install photo's and trust intercooler goodness... *droool* Hey dave where can I get some of that thermo tape wrap stuff... I might wrap the pipes before they go on? and then do the dump pipe/front pipe to cat when thats done too. Might be an idea to actually wrap some tape around that pipe that goes into the manifold over the engine that seems to get damn hot.

Steve,

It makes sense, the factory one has a small air bleed (hole on the underside) people  mistake for the factory BOV not holding boost at light cruise due to it being so-called 'too lightly sprung for high boost apps'.

There is someone with a thread about blocking the hole off on the performance section!

I got rid of my stocker BOV for a couple of reasons. For starters the 32's have a recirc pipe the plumbs back into the intake at a point which makes the standard BOV incredibly loud when fitted with a pod filter (most atmo BOV's would be quieter). Secondly, mine used to vent at very very mild throttle adjustments, you could be cruising along the freeway and even mild 5km/h increases in speed, throttle feathering and such produces a loud "PSSSSCCCHHHTTT" sound. Not to mention a horrible rushing air noise when on boost (you couldnt hear the turbo spool or even the engine over it).

It was just plain embarassing. I couldnt drive it sedately without a massive BOV noise on every gearchange. Least the TurboXs one i have now is quiet until you start changing at over 3000rpm. And you can hear the engine note and turbo spool clear as day.

Mine did the same thing, and that simple BOV mod stops that.

I found it frustrating too :D

Now it only opens when there's a decent amount of preasure difference - not 10psi+, but enough not to open at stupidly low boost.

Ok, here are some pre-install pics of the trust cooler. Its a 600x244x76mm core (tube and fin core) as you can see from the photo's its designed to use the standard intercooler pipes in the engine bay (which I think I'll replace at some stage with trust polished aluminum ones anyway). The pipe below the cooler flows from the left side to the right side and up into the engine bay, however if you went for the trust plenum I'm sure you could adapt the piping up the left side of the engine bay. Its going in next wednesday (and the cars getting a much needed service). I'll try and get some pics of it being installed (just walk down to speedworks in my lunch break) and then some more pics once its installed, looks like we'll have to trim some of the stock front spoiler to give more airflow to the cooler. Anyway... enjoy

hahaha ... nice

That cooler looks sweet man ... should be good when it goes in.

You'll have to take some after shots so we can see it :D

Yeah, will do. Looking forward to getting it in, I wont be running 0.8bar all the time but it'll sure help when I am. You gotta remember though this will be around $3k fitted all up, you gotta be thinking about whether jap stuff is really worth that much when you'd probably get a good aussie job fitted for $2k. Should be more than enough for 450-500hp, which I'll never get to... rather buy a GTR

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
