Gday fellars, I'm looking for some new tyres for both of my parent's cars.

The sizes are 185 70 r14 and 205 65 r15.

Initially, I was just going to get some falken st115 or fk451. I've used these on my car, and they were pretty good. However, I called tempe tyres, and these tyres are not available in the above sizes. I was recommended some shitty multidirectional tyres.

Can someone recommend some decent tyres in the above sizes (yes I have searched, but all the tyres are not applicable because theye are not available in small sizes). The tyres don't have to be ultimate performance tyres, they just have to be decent in the rain (the tyres on there atm are absolute shitters, and I spin out a few times whenever I drive them in the rain).

Cheers

How about Yokohama A539s. I know they come in the 15" size, and pretty sure they would also come in the 14" as well.

I have them on my R30, they seem OK (although the R30 is not the gutsiest or highest performing beast around!)

Hahaha, a 15 year old subaru liberty or foulcan aren't exactly beasts either.

Thanks for that blind elk, i'll look into it.

The cars are just daily rippers so they don't have to be the best. I'm just looking for something a bit better than the tractor/rikshaw tyres that we've been offered by all the tyre places.

Grrr... every tyre that i've found ok for my car doesn't come in the small sizes.

Thunderbolt - I called up tempe tyres regarding the nangkang tyres. The nsII ultrasports are not available in those sizes. I've tried the nsIIs on my car, and i'd have to say that they're the best value budget tyre available.

They did have a variety of nangkang passenger car tyre available. I will enquire further. Cheers.

The 15s should be readily available in just about any make and model - they are the stock size for the recent Commodores.

Checkout www.btc.net.au . B/S ER562, ER60, Firestone F900 all come in 185/70R14

And B/S ER30, ER592, RE92, Firestone TZ100 all come in 205/65R15

Hi check out the Toyo Teo's they are supposed to be good, reasonable price about $110 for 205/65/15, they aren't a performance tyre and I think I will try them once my current tyres go.

Another cheaper brand is Tornados which are directional and for the same size as above are about $90 each- apparently they have some connection to Pirelli~. They have been really good on my R31, taking a fair bit of provocation to light up in the wet - the car is std except for extractors and sports exhaust. Much better then the so called "brand' name goodyears that were on it.

hey manwhore3 what are the falken st115 like? they are azenis right? they have 3 grooves and the rest looks like semi slick almost..... just got a pair of these from tempe tyres ($400) but havent tested em, cheers

ps a mate just tried to order em in 15" from tempe and yeh no stock, he ended up getting some Pirrelli P6000 and seem pretty good

Hey Buddy you might wanna check out the Kumho Powermax 769 for the 205/65/r15, in a tyre test done back a while ago they came equal first with Pirelli's P6000, but that was in 185/65/r14 size. i'm using 185/60/r14 Kumho 769's on my civic and are great!, cheap too only $89.

dunno about the 185/70/r14's tho don't think they come in that size

    • I have more than enough digging, laying blocks, moving gravel, airrating, feeding and top soiling the grass, and setting up the veggie gardens growing some seedlings,  and then removing all the unused rock to keep me busy for the next few months at least,  hopefully the rain stops soon so I can get a few hours in this arvo, but, before that Sunday is washing day, is every body happy, you bet your life we are Nice country road day drives are a day off whenever I'm muscle sore from all the landscaping at the moment, but, more epic multiple day drives will start once the majority of the big jobs outside are completed
    • I hear that would involve some nice country road drives into the hills for Mark...
    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
