is that a custom made back wall yeah? the factory 1 is too weak to hold amps?

any 1 got any ideas for somone with a strut brace...2 amps, and a 12" sub?

yep it is..

its made from MDF.. with the carpet type material covreing it.

Well.. that's exactly what i'm planning to build!

Dezz.. that should work for you. The back part has enough surface area to hold two amps. I'm going to make a hole on the right-hand side to fit the sub. With the strut-brace, it won't hold a 12", but i'm looking for 10" atm.

gw d00dz!

ill be boxing the 12" and putting it in the boot probably off to the side. the factory wall wont hold 2 amps from what ive been told. im not going to take off my strut brace though, so id either have to work out a way to put a fake wall over the factory 1 while keeping the strut brace, or do a false floor and have the amps under it...

dezz do what i did, rip out the side flooring stuff and build a box (up to the manufactures requirements) and fit it in the corner/s (if you have 2 12" like me)

then put the amps in an amp rack on the right side of the battery, then put the divider back in and hey presto!

i'll get some pics for ya soonly

wellat the moment.. zip ties :D... LOL! but back when that photo was taken i used the factory wall mount to secure the new wall.. although after several months and some heavy cornering.. the facotry wall mount snapped.. so i dont advise using this.. especially if you have heavy amps lol

but at the moment im working on making brackets for it to screw into the roof of the boot like the pics above posted by d00dz i think it was

even with my setup, i still have enough room in the boot to put a large rectangular bag to go away somewhere ... so its still fairly roomy (considering how much was there to begin with.. also my sub can be removed in under 10 seconds... so if i need the space its no big deal!

What ever you do, don't mount the amp onto the sub box as when you get those deep bass beats you'll rattle the internals out of the amp. If your looking to mount it somewhere to keep the max boot space and keeping the look sleek mount it under the front seat(passengers side).

Not entirely a problem these days. Amps are built pretty well and you'll get vibrations anywhere it goes simply from driving the car.

Well.. I made the battery-cover idea that I had illustrated earlier.

Used 1200x600x12 MDF. Trimmed it down to size, cut off the angle piece, got some 90 degree brackets and bent them to something like 20 degrees, reattached the angled piece, drilled out the bolt-holes and it fits.

Only problem now is either spot-welding the nuts to the back of the stock mounts or working out some other way of bolting/unbolting the damn thing.

The bottom sits perfectly on my spare tyre, nice and tight... so hopefully it won't vibrate against the metal anywhere.

I've also drawn the line of the strut brace and the floor of the battery-area, and now i'm going to measure that distance up and see what sort of sub I can squeeze in there based on it's magnet size.

Then hole-cutting and carpeting. *phew* And this is after a 12 hour nightshift with no sleep!

I love my skyline but I have just bought a pretty decent stereo. Whats someones thoughts on what it will sound like?

It consists of, top of the range rockford fosgate head unit, 2nd from the best kicker splits in the front, top of the range pioneer 6x9's (the yellow kevlar ones) and a jbl amp which is 110watts rms per channel. Is this a good match up? looking forwared to driving down to sydney with this cranked

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
