howdy fellas, just wanted to introduce me self, me names phill, first time on the site, i just brought a 96 r33, absoulate owsome, preety impressed with the way they go, i had a ba turbo wich i sold about one n half years ago, great to be back in a car with some balls, shity old van was starting to have its toll. i was just wondering if some one could help me, i have just put on a turbosmart eboost series one guage, after messing around with dialling it in, it runs three set points to choose from ( stages ) i set 1 at 7psi 2 at 10 psi 3 at 13 psi, when i was driving around i switched two setppoint 2 10 psi but when i gassed it i just couldnt get over 7psi, i wipped the eboost and just set set point 1 at 10psi but still no go, 7.2 psi was the most i could get from it, the motors stock apart from a front mount and blow of valve, what are the factory wastegate springs, would this be why i cant get any more if the waste gate is only 7psi, also i just brought a set of mags for it as well, when i went to try the set on i like we poped the cap of the other mag and it was only 4 studd the dude at the shop said turbo models only came out with 5 studd, and non turbo 4, but the car is a gts-t model, some other fella there saidnah the turbos do come out with 4studd and small brakes, on the early model, when i brought it they told me its a late model series 2, any ideas what the go is, and the fuel pump is fairly noise, buzzes away fairly loud is that normal. go guys cheers for your time.

No R33 GTST's came out 4 stud. Its hard to tell from your description, but it sounds like your car has 5 studs and the wheels you went to try on were 4 stud.

As for the car not producing boost above 7 pound, you will have to override the factory boost cut, as it is around 7-8 pound I think.

If yours is a 4 stud it may be a non turbo that has been converted to a turbo. (not 100% sute that R33 not turbos were 4 stud, but the R32 non turbos were 4 stud)

Other indicators are the badges on the front guards should be red for turbo, blue for non turbo)

If you search the forums you will find someone who can decode oyur VIN and tell you what options were on the car as it left the factory.

PS - anyone else notice the lack of replies to this thread compared to the last "Hi im new" post from a 19 year old GIRL.

Phill, wou may get more help from some of these guys if you tell them your name is Phillis or Filicity and that you are between 16 and 20 years old.

Does the GT badge have a blue backgroud or a red background?

How to tell a Turbo from Non turbo from the outside..... on the R33 this is,

Turbo

- 5 Stud

- GT Badge has a red background

- Sticker on rear reads GTS25T

Non-Turbo

- 4 Stud

- GT Badge has a blue backgroud

- Sticker on rear reads GTS25

sounds to me that you have been misinformed when you purchased your import. no turbo model skyline ever came out in 4 stud EVER, badges or not. in regards to your boost, did you install the ebc yourself or was it on the car when you got it. if it was on the car already then it could be the stock solenoid not being disconnected or bypassed thus not allow you to go over the standard boost level. if it was installed by a workshop, take it back and get them to rectify the issues. other then that, enjoy it.

mines a 96 s2 r33 gts-t, and its got blue badges 4 some reason. but 5 stud, i think the guy who had it b4 was going 4 the blue white look, cos the break calipers r painted blue as well. it better not b a na conversion lol

my old non turbo 33 had 4 stud, very annoying.

no such thing as a non turbo with 2 airbags...can any1 confirm that? cos if its not true, then im gona start doing some checking on mine!

lots of new ppl signing up latley...looks like we got alot more of us on the rds...maybe we should form sau elite members forum lol

series 2 came with driver and passenger airbags as standard. it was an option on the 1.5 series (option as having passenger airbag as an option). if your referring to the badges near the side skirts then yes turbo models have red/white ones. the white/blue ones are for n/a's but many people have tried to make their's a sleeper/unconspicuos (sp) by taking the red/white ones off and replacing it with white/blue one's. but the 5 studs are a dead giveaway.

    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.

    • Yes, well, keep in mind that the air is intake air, which equal boost + possible oil. If there is a fine deposition of oil/scunge that then gets hot and carbonises, it could look just like that. Probably shouldn't be leaking. Might just be normal for that product. Hard to know if it is relevant.
    • Wrapped up putting the motor back in today. I have a stainless flex turbo drain pipe like you see on cummins and that funny enough PRP started selling. I generally prefer these but sadly they come with a finite amount of times they can be bent before they snap. Took well over a week for a replacement to arrive.  I was able to prime the pump but I will more then likely wait until next friday to take it on its madden voyage. I also installed the nozzles for my direct port WMI setup but plugged the nozzle holders for now. I'll tube it with Swagelok SS tubing and fittings next chance I get. No rush, i'll be breaking it for a week or two anyways.
    • I could definitely do some logs without the VCT enabled for sure. I believe we tried it on the dyno and it still spiked but wouldn't hurt to try again and have the logs    I might be able to use some metal cable ties and hold the gate open entirely, I'd need to see about that one.   What do we think about these marks on the cap of the actuator? This is where the two parts push together where the diaphragm spring is. To me they look like air has been sleeping past?? Specifically talking about those black stains above the lower rim/lip. They can be rubbed away as if it's just an exhaust stain.
