looks like it could be the new commodore from the states if you look at that back picture and imagine the lights, looks very much like the ones we see today

cheers

thats what im thinking - gto like grill, vy style tail lights, n it resembles the ve proto they showed..

plus the "mules" they test are left hand drive, as per previous model eg. vy

I'm in Broken Hill. Ive seen the car for a couple of days now, but this time I happened to have a camera handy.

Next time crack the shell open dude.

Just make sure no-one is looking and go to town on the thing.

Get pics under the car too... might help seeing whats running underneaths :)

give ya a clue ghuys, we dont make mirrors in australia, for hyundi, kia or any eurpoean cars, so doesnt leave much to pick from...............

i cant say much more other wise i could get into trouble i recon!

I don't think it's a VE Commodore

Looking at the front grill and the roofline I would almost say that it may even be the next generation Falcon, but I doubt it

I'm pretty stumped to be honest

Could be quite legitimate to bring a European car down here for testing. Europe doesnt experience the temperatures somewhere like Broken Hill would get.

What letter is under the EU circle of stars? That will tell you the country of origin in theory. :D

Looks very Volvo like as their lines have been getting softer over the years.

Saw a prototype Rolls when I lived in the UK in Stratford Upon Avon. Phantom I think it was. This was back in 2000 though.

I'll put my 2c on it being the new magna, rear tail lights, general crappy shape, door handles... and the mirrors :D

Unless ford or holden are going back to the early 90's shape, I dont think it is either of them.

the mirrors and antenna look pretty european..... but if your a european car manufacturer, why would you bring prototypes, or unreleased models to australia........?? Photoshooting??  Also has those european style plates.........

Australia has the harshest conditions! Alot of vehicle testing goes on in the middle of nowhere in NT and SA.

    • Make sure you use the spherical bushes** on the lower arms, ifyou do that. ** at least, if not the whole replacement lower arm.
    • The tap for coolant flow control will be stuck open. It's not just the air door motor that dies.
    • Not really, but the heater box is pretty simple mechanically....if the door is one way the air bypasses the heater core and if it is the other way it goes through it for warm air.  If you are sure the actuator you moved manually is for the heater mix (there would also be one for output air direction) then I'd take the heater box out and see what is happening (you'll have to regass and re-coolant the systems afterwards) BTW pp724 onwards from the GTR workshop manual cover the system in good detail, it is probably worth checking. I think the IAT sensor might be a problem electrically for getting cold (if you got 24 error code not -24 it thinks the incoming air is -50c) and it covers how to test the sensor (although most likely it is either not plugged in or a wire is damaged)
    • Use the GKTech subframe bush and bring your subframe 10mm closer to the chassis. You'll need to fix an exhaust hanger to suit. One of the best mods I've done.
    • You'd really have to pull it apart further to know, it least you can be confident that the one heading to the back is not connected any more. There was once a ground on the shifter seal mount too, your head unit issue could be that simple
