Gtr 33 Vspec Diff

Does anyone know or have tried to use an R33 GTR rear vspec diff with out the active pump hooked up. Does it operate just as an lsd, or is it the active pump that makes it lsd ?

For example if you want to try and use this diff in another car, will it work as an lsd if you dont have the hydralic line hooked up, that normally gos in the bottom of the housing.

Does anyone know exactly how this diff actually works? I think the basics are hydalic pressure is used to give better traction left or right when there is wheel spin.

Maybe someone has some tech info?
