Hello to all,

After much talk I finally bought myself a turbo, well 2 actually! :P

Bought our new baby home yesterday.

It's a baby for sure, because it's going to cost me a small fortune (repairs and parts for compliance) before I even get to play with it (just like a baby).

It'll probably crap itself while I'm holding it (just like a baby).

Fluids all over the floor, do the wrong thing as it gets older, tantrums, etc (just like a baby)

But its mine and I LOVE IT (just like a baby)

Thanks to all.

Took it out for a spin again yesterday, before the temp. rego permit ran out.

Something very weird going on, tramlines like a bitch with the 18' and jap spec susp (rock hard), then the back to kicks out. Very exciting at 80kmh + :)

Back wants to steer car.

Assuming it's a combo of the above and radius bushes on front being shagged.

Planning on doing these as well as the rear subframe bushes.

Does the HICAS not like big ass wheels and super stiff susp?

Not something that happened on test drives (of course), but was always it bit flighty on our fabulous SA roads system due to susp.

Any advice welcomed on this one

Congrats on the new addition to the family!!! I recently bought a 'new baby' as well and with the 33 GTR wheels, 255/45R17s and track spec suspension it tramlines a fair bit. Never had the back try to steer the car though - apart from when I wanted it too...........

Excellant choice on car go the red emblem ;)

my GTR tramlined heaps too with 265/35/18 all round its the toe thats probably out also if its lowered the negative camber is probably like 3 degrees which causes massive tram lining. I put in a camber kit and adjustable radious rods and steering is awsome

congrats on the gtr. very nice choice.

i was looking at doing exactly the same thing and it came down to convenience of driving a finished restoration project vs undertaking a project but ill b still getting a gtr aswell hopefully sooon

I was actually looking at an R31 Coupe to start off wth, yours looks bloody nice.

It was a simple decision in the end. I really like R31's, but I've ALWAYS wanted a GT-R.

That, as well as the fact it was a pretty good deal I got on the GT-R was enough to sway me.

Thanks to everyone for their support and help. Hopefully I'll be on the road soon.

Where did you pick your GTR up from? Looks in good nick.

The car was a private sale.

Looks can be deceiving. It's a 100,000+ km plus car with a paint job. Interior is not too bad, drivers seat bolsters are trashed. It's got some rust as well. It was an R grade auction car, interior is only C grade. I knew all of this before purchase and the seller didn't try and hide anything. Makes a pleasant change from some stuff I'd looked at.

But it's a GT-R :P And it's now parked in my garage :O:D

    • roof rail delete used to be a thing, they were made locally for a while too
    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps  
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car. 
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
