Did you push the connector in very hard?? Mine took a fairly hard push before it connected properly

Double check that antenna dude... Like Bunta said, it is REALLY hard to push into the headunit usually. You think it's in, then you eat some spinach and push again, and it goes a whole lot further in.

I did this again recently when putting a headunit in my girlfriends car (goodbye tape-deck and manual radio knobs!), and the metal part of the antenna plug just about completely disappeared into the back of the head unit.

That said, her reception is still better than my Skylines. Might want to get a multimeter onto the antenna plug, and then touch the end coming out of the adapter to test its continuity. (while it's disconnected and powered off).

Test compared to touching the two probes of the multimeter together directly, and test the inner and outer part of the antenna cable.

I just installed a Pioneer head unit tonight and noticed that I now struggle to get good reception with my aerial in half height mode (SII 33), but of course it's fine in full height mode. Not too stressed as the main reason for installing was to play CD's. Will whip it out and make sure that the plug is all they way in!

Oh and the backlighting is bright as a mofo ut that's another story =D (There doesn't seem to be a wire for dimming either before someone mentions it)

My kenwood has the wire, but I didn't use it. It's not that bright to annoy me.

It also has an ATT/Dim button, so check that, Dan!

Usually one press is ATT (quiet), and holding it down will dim the display.
