Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has bought & tried the cold air induction snorkel advertised on the UAS website to suit R32/33 GTS-t (pictured below). I want to keep my factory S2 R33 airbox and I'm wondering if it's additional to the existing airbox snorkel or a replacement, and either way does it make a difference??? At $250 it'd want to be pretty good!

Let us know your opinions.

Thanks!

hmmm

kind of looks like its designed to be additional to the factory snorkel, and come up from underneath the airbox...

looks like that to me too, would only be useful if you had the "across the front" IC piping and no factory air box.

well make your own.....easy just get a 3inch 90 degree PVC pipe bend and a metre of 3inch pipe and make your own.

also a funnel for the bell end. measure and fit. and spray black for stealth look. will Have to take a photo of it sometime. Was cheap to do as I had the parts lying around.

wouldn't of costed any more them say $40 if you needed to buy all the parts!

If it comes in from the bottom of the factory box it will by pass the filter :P

Im a bit confused RaseR, how are you going to keep the existing airbox and use the air feed from below? As said by Bunta, feeding from below the airbox (and would need modifications to the air box) will by-pass the filter. What ideas have you got for ducting the air in with the second snorkel so it will pass through the filter while retaining the stock airbox? What your suggesting only looks like it will work if your using a pod filter I would think. :P

EDIT: Also if you still running the stock IC the return pipe will be taking a lot of the room to play with below the air box. It looks like to me the UAS pipe feeds up to the hole where the stock return intercooler pipe would have been if your running an aftermarket intercooler whose return pipe goes over the engine/fan. I don’t think I have explained that very well, I hope that makes sense. Unless someone has an idea how to make it work?

hey nismo_au,

Actually you've raised some good points - I'm more familiar with the setup in the R32 where you can actually set up a cold air feed that comes from beneath the filter, but the R33 airbox is quite different (upside down?!) so same principles don't apply! I'm sure the stock snorkel is adequate, it's way better then the one on the R32.

I think you're right, the uas snorkel looks like it should feed down into the hole where the stock IC pipes would be, if you had a front mount (non-return style - with piping going past the radiator fan).

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
