cant believe ir just read 13 pages of all this

1.4 sixty foot and 129 mph and only a 10.8

you need to changes gears faster that thing will go 10.1 with ease.

or get an auto.

good work i like it.

our cars would be a good match up.

Yeah love to champ

Reason why i didnt flat change is the scared to blow the box and thats useless money

I have just finished putting the auto in and have driven the car but have noticed i have only got around 4-5 psi of boost

I am going to check this problem out and Do a comparence dyno printout from Manual To auto.

The box i am running is a 2 speed powerglide with transbrake.TCT Converter With a mech Diode

I have also got a Chrome moly 1 piece tailshaft made to help with the transfer

I will post tomorrow the difference and will be back at the track in 2 weeks

My next aim is to run in the 9 second area.If it cannot be done with the standard head which i think is possible with some Nitrous but if not i will use the Solid lifter head which i have got with a steel head gasket. And that also goes if the head gasket goes i will also change heads.

I cant believe that rb25 is still going. I hope my rb30det can make 400rwhp in stock form and be reliable!!! if that rb25 can do then mine can get close to it im sure

Hey Guilt-Toy, I have an internally stock (apart from poncams) rb25 making 410.7rwhp and it is running fine. It is on a conservative tune with timing advance and a/f ratios to keep it running as long as possible. But then again others running less have had the motor pop. I guess a lot has to do with the tuning and the condition of the internals to begin with.

Cheers,

JB

Ok have run the box in a bit on the dyno and have done 4 power runs

Without modifying the tune i have made 477 WRHP with the auto on just 18 psi Boost

Before the auto i was making on average 500 RWHP on 18 psi of boost on pump fuel

I will post the nitrous compared sheet next week when im back from Newcastle as well as this sheet

But as far as what i can see i only lost 23 RWHP

I also tried to spool it on the brake and found it couldnt get more then 3 psi

I tried with the nitrous and it flared straight away

This is due to the converter being a Transbrake Nos setup converter

The converter Was built by John @ TCT in melbourne which i think did a unreal job and the box was built by Joe @ Wollongong Automatics.

I should be back at the track in 2 weeks now

Waiting on the car to be teched.

My aim is to run in the 9 second area and further till something gives way.If something does i will change motors and try eventually to run into the lower 9 area.

Any questions just ask

1200hp would be good for 8's or 7's wouldn't it? whens the beast arrive?

Im using this engine in my Full chassis car that my father and i am building

Im using the other engine i have in this one

the one with the solid head ETC

i do

but i am not allowed to Show the Setup

(FAMILLLLYYYY MATTERS)

when its closer to being @ the Track ill post some photos of it and the car

This is what is in the Motor im putting in this Car

-RB26 Crank

-N1 oil Pump

-EAGLE H beam Rods

-ACL forged Pistons

-ARP main & head Stud kits

-Cometic Head Gasket

-RB25 Head with TOMMIE Valve Springs,Solid Lifters,Tommie 272 @ 11.5 lift Cams

Aiming For 600 RWHP+++ and a low 9

hey bro, look ive just spent the good part of 2 1/2 hours reading this thread and its my bloody birthday, ive even held of on the cake till i read this, lol. What a thread, one of the best of read on this site. To the doubters out there, well you said he was dreaming and the dream came alive. The power you got out of the engine was pheonaminal, it makes ya think what a 13 odd year old engine can actually achieve. To the believers, aim high and you can go far. I know that the availability of a dyno and the mind of someone like your self (mechanicaly) not everyone has, but you took advantage of it and done well. That engine had a lot of balls. Anyway good luck with the new one and who knows what power you'll hit with this one.

LOL HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO

Anyways ill post some picts of the Internals

If i wasnt Selfish and didnt try to get more power out of it i would say it would of Lasted alot longer but i was always Trying to make more instead of leaving it

Anyways

Shouldnt be to long

Cheers mate, but also in saying that you were selfish, you also did something that im pretty sure a lot of people have always wanted to do but have never had the balls or money to do, run the bitch as hard as it could do and not care about the consiquences, i think a lot of poeple will actually understand that the more you look after the car, the more power can be put into it. In saying that, within reason ha ha.

Damo

After all the Motor Has been through i can say that it is possible to Make 470 RWHP safely on a Street RB25 Standard motor and make it last on Pump Fuel.

To make even more Safer power i recommend Changing the Head Gasket to a Tommie or Cometic and Upgrading Cams in which you wont have to Run as much Ignition Timing and Boost. As for the Bottom end i think that all of it can last.

The main Reasons for the Car making the power is

1) suffiecent intercooler (this is what Makes your Power And makes the Engine last Due to A stable Low Air Temp)

2) the Design Inside the Plenium

3)A Efficent Turbo (there is no need to Get a 1000 hp turbo if all your looking at is 600 engine HP)

4) Great Ignition Setup which is pretty basic and can get even better like the Next setup im doing which runs 6 coils

5) A good ECU

6)Reducing Load Off the Engine EG Clutch fan

7) good Fuel Supply

well done mate its lasted alot longer than the knockers on here had imagined. bout time someone showed em they are keyboard mechanics and dont actually know from there own experience, just from "i heard ..." and "i reckon ..." comments said on forums.

good luck with the new setup

good luck with the new setup

Thanks Mate

I havent commented yet and thats becoz I know f**kall about what destroys a good motor at that amount of power, but its interesting to note that it was No6 that lost compession, as that piston seems to be the one that cops it alot, higher temps and first to lean out, have you accounted for this in the new setup?

And Oh well done I would be happy to have your dyno hours :(

    • Well, I'm tired. I'm tired because about 4PM yesterday, before today's appointment someone immediately bought my bumper. They couldn't get it any other day as they're on the way back to NSW. So I had to do that big GTR conversion I had been planning. Unfortunately, the information on SAU about what you need and how this is done is incomplete. So what should be a simple bolt on affair, yeah, it's not. Did you know if you use all GTR items the bonnet won't close? This little manuever sent me into about 1am the night before trying to dodge a way to get it closed. I will have to revisit this in the next few days  - or maybe not, I may let a body shop figure it out. It all needs to come up and my motivation to pull the bumper off is low. It also seems to hit things in the bay where the GTT bonnet didn't. Yes I used 100% new OEM GTR items. Today, I had the joy of driving to the dyno looking like this: Given I had roughed in the fuel and given sensible but pretty conservative timing, I didn't really bet on having the car drive out any real difference than when it drove in. Sadly due to a miscommunication and laptop fun and games (and almost bricking the dongle, prayers and firmware updates indeed), I ended up using HP Tuner credits to licence the car that was already licenced. So in the end my laptop was used. It turns out my butt dyno is still well calibrated after all this time. The 325kw was on 74% Ethanol, the 313kw line was on 98. The other line is the 'before' line which was 281kw. While the numbers are pretty low, they're pretty in line with what you'd expect. Even if US dynos bump the whole result up about 50KW, gaining 10-15% is similar gains.  The curve of the cam is pretty much spot on with what was discussed as well. All this said, it still feels bad to not see the number you secretly want to see. Even if the car drove great beforehand, and I knew pretty confidently the car would drive out much the same way it drove in due to the nature of a wellish dialled in LS1 not gaining much if anything at all from being tuned from where it was. As expected, the car isn't particularly sensitive to running it at anywhere between 12.0 and 13.0 - And the initial timing at 20deg and 12.0 made 308KW. So 3 degrees of timing, and leaning it out to 12.7 for 5kw, anything above stopped giving any benefit until E85 (which has an additional 2 deg as before). Car itself behaved entirely fine. I found out that 100C = 1.15V! IAT at about 7pm was 19C. I might mess with the bonnet mounting.. but given the REO NEEDS TO BE CHOPPED TO FIT A GTR BAR this is possibly something I may leave gathering (more) dust until it returns to paint jail.
    • It sounds farrrrrrr too cold at your place Duncan... Here I was thinking our 10 degrees overnight is getting cold...
    • oh yeah, reminded this morning....bin lids frozen shut too
    • In my case not, because of total reno. But yeah.
    • Did you use an electronic speedo drive? Does you speedometer read all the way to 180km?
