Sorry for late post but ye like everyone said top job there Adam thanks for helping us out and same goes for all flag marshals. Also thanks to Neil for lending me some tools and ride with me during my first lap. Also had a nice chat with Simon and had few good tips. I wish there could be more laps with experienced passenger so the newbies can be more familarised with the track. But definitely had great fun even though I ehum spun to the gravel some lap at the beginning :ermm: Sorry guys! Thx to a SAU member radio out rescue :) My times were pretty hopeless coz couldnt get much traction at corners (7 consecutive lol) but mainly due to my crappy skill. Anyway overall it was a top day and look forward to the next one!

OK Ill PM you my email

Theres 4 things i like about EC

1. The speed a GTR does along the straight

2. Turn2 exiting to the next corner - work that AWD :) - i like it sideways out of there

3. Clostest track to most people

4. Great open parking area for pits

But in saying that - ill go back there one day.....

Id like to have a look at how you did your oil cooler - it seems very tight in that space, you have the standard FMIC and airbox pipes still? Still unsure what oil cooler to get

Shaun was saying he noticed the oil at 140 degrees at one point, so yeah, definatly an oil cooler - does yours have a thermostat? Im a bit concerned about warming it up around town

still standard FMIC but with Greddy hard pipe kit. yeah 140 is on the high side, no doubt. with my cooler oil temp doesnt really get over 110. it does have a thermostat. the trust kit i have is pretty good. it has remote filter mount (with built in thermostat and take off for guages) and come with a duct etc to go around the core.

Duncan,

I agree with your comments, but perhaps a little more organisation and better expectation setting would have made everyone a little happier, the arvo was run like old school, I think I had more track time from 2pm then I did for everything prior, I did have an enjoyable day, sh!ty morning, but a great arvo. Enough said.

I did forget to mention a thankyou for the marshals and everyone who put in on the event. Sorry about having to look at my a$$ but you asked for it Duncan.

All, there was one casulty on the day, my track s**t car has spun a bottom end, should be up and going by the next track day, we have a spare GT4 bottom end sitting around. Briefly the Aaron Mcgill details are as foolows.

Phase 3 May 29 Oran Park Grand Prix Track: For the driver who loves the thrill of clipping an apex, or powering hard out of a turn, we have the 2nd of our 2006 Grand Prix Track drive days. Auto-Motion will provide you with expert in car training from drivers who are actually involved in competitive motor sport. manned flag posts for safety, and a fantastic BBQ lunch. All in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. The cost for the full day on the GP track is $239.00.

I know its a Monday which costs you a sick day or an anual day, but with the grid starts and all day passanger time its well worth and price.

Im working on a group discount for SAU, I will post up a new thread once I have had a chance to chat to Aaron. I have about 8-10 people from work coming, there will be the four of us who where out there this weekend, Myself, Ralph (grey 200SX), Steve (White WRX), Shane (R32 GTS-T broken!), I have a SS Doore, 626, C230 Merc and another wrx.

See you all out there.

Mate i think you'll find your quickest lap was 1.33, check natsoft for fastest times. I didn't see anyone running a 1.30, Your quickest was 1.33, sorry to disappoint you. :

Thanks for that, someone said i got a 1.30. I still did alright with a 1.33 :bunny:

Great day had by all!

More than happy to volunteer throwing a flag around, had it pretty cushy @ turn 11 with Steve (N1GTR). 2 x seats, bevvies, kebabs & sweet cars flying by!

Cant wait till next time and the Ceffie should be good to go!

liz i think you need a r31... then i could confess my love

hahahahaha

BRING ON THE DRIFT DAYS!

if you havent spun your not trying hard enough

You speak wise words.

Lizzy we both know who came out the winner here, everyone! It was an awesome day and to answer Adam's question, YES i'm hooked!

by the end of the day you were FLYINGGGGGGGGG... I'm still pretty happy with my 1.36, 6sec improvement over the day!! And by the last round, I was belting it around (well for me anyhow! lol)

big thanks to adam for organising us all! Fantastic day, I'll be at the next one for sure, chasing Adam down (oh yes I'll get you!). And thanks to all the volunteers too! And G'day to the flaggie on turn 4 who was giving me the thumbs up!

I call dibs on that corner for the next day - you, me, the seats, and the car full of crap - food, smokes etc. The best way to enjoy a trackday :bunny: ....except for driving of course

Haha my last memory of that corner is you guys frantically waving your hands around in the air at me after dropping even more fuel all over the place! :bunny:

Both you and Shaun - were the only ones with fuel leaking (i was suprised it was only 2 skylines with that problem)

Yeah mine turned out to be a dodgey fuel filler installation during compliance. 2 small spots of epoxy doesnt mean as a fuel-tight seal! Grr..

Same on my car - probably most skylines out there are the same, but most people wouldnt know it as they only cruise with their cars, no trackwork with hard cornering

What turbo/setup have you got? You were flying, ando and i were wondering how its so fast!

Apexi AX75F82-P25 Turbo

Apexi GT Spec I/C

Apexi PowerFC

Apexi N1 Coilovers

Noisy Fuel Pump (Unknown)

Bigger Injectors (Unknown)

225rwkw..

etc etc...

It felt pretty good on the day.. my best time was a 1:29.50. My first ever run on a track though, so there is some room for improvement with some decent tyres (Wan Li brand tyres on there at the moment! *Shudder*)

    • You know what, I am enjoying your updates, but I have to say it is pretty poor form to walk into a shop that is paying for space and stock on the floor, try all their seats to work out what you are happy with, then buy somewhere else. If everyone did that the shop will be out of business with no opportunity for anyone to try a seat before buying. 👎
    • Good work, and thanks for posting up your solution for future people!
    • Yeah mate that’s the plan, I just want something I can have fun in and work on during weekends.  There’s really only 1 road fit to drive the car on and luckily is been redone recently.  I do want to tune it next year sometime, no dynos here so I’m looking at an ECU that can be remote tuned.
    • Initially I thought having a pair of Recaro seats would be a big bonus, it turns out these do get a little uncomfortable on long journeys (my fault, not the seat). I had a look through the GSM Performance website at reclining seats and booked an appointment to visit their show room. I got the Recaro Sportster CS for the R34 from here, was very happy with the service received so of course a re-visit was in order. Unfortunately the two Corbeau seats I had chosen aren't on display but they had 4 other options available. Two seats dug into my back, one dug into my legs and the other was perfect. I also found out that Recaro seats use a larger bolt pattern so some adaption was required. Luckily GSM offer some universal adaptors that should solve this problem. I searched the interwebs for price comparisons and Corbeau themselves were the cheapest at £300 cheaper (for the pair). I asked GSM if they could price match, unfortunately they couldn't. I later received an email saying Corbeau would honour them the same discount, but the purchase was already made. I did however order the brackets from GSM, both arrived on the same day. I started with the passenger side seat, knowing this was going to be a little trial and error. There are 3 mounting holes at the front and 2 at the rear on these JURAN Racing seat rails.  With the adaptor brackets mounted, the allen cap bolts started to push into the seat, NOT GOOD!  The rear mounting holes lined up but there were issues at the front. The holes were 1/2 hole out, so the brackets got a tickle with the drill to modify the holes. The supplied bolts weren't going to be long enough and a spacer was needed to stop the adaptor bars from bending. A local fasteners company supplied be with some nylon spacers and longer bolts (M8x30, although these will be replaced with 35mm long shortly) A before and after I pre-drilled the front bracket before making a start on the driver's seat to save some time. And in no time at all that was in the car too. The all black seats have transformed the interior and these are MUCH more comfortable. The only downside with the new Corbeau seats is I sit a little higher, but I'll happily accept that over discomfort. The Youtube video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPyttKPktXA
