the main problem i have been having is with service pack 2,

the first time it froze during update and screwed the whole system up

then once i had reinstalled windows and put on the service pack 2 it wouldn't allow me on the internet :bunny: i couldn't turn the microsoft security centre off! even when the option setting were on OFF they were still active and wouldn't allow a connection

have you used g-spot to find out what codec the video is using?

installed the k-like codec pack?

how have you been updating to SP2? i have official M$ SP2 update discs at work, drop by, ask for fishpaste and i'll help you out

i hope your not using sp1 computers on the internet, if you are dont do any internet bnking, credit card purcheses, or anything else you dont want comprimised. SP1 has massive secuity holes in it now that they just wont fix and your computer will get owned (even with a firewall).

hope this helps

got a sp2 disc from the local pc store (genuine) i don't do any purchases or credit card transactions online when i'm at home i only do it if i'm at work with the good security setup

just can't figure out why it won't allow me to turn off all of the Microsoft Firewall and antivirus stuff. Its not allowing any connection

ok, this has been really pissing me off, i have had to reformat (4th time in 3 weeks) :P:D:rant:

i have been trying to run a few videos and my media player won't locate the codec needed to run .WMV files:( it locates it and will only play the audio off of it. Is there anyway to install codecs manually and where can i find them? i have googled it and haven't come up with much.

lol sorry for the nooby question, but this is pissing me off and i can't figure it out :bunny:

PS I F*&^ING HATE WINDOWS

i use this codec pack hadnt had any problems to date cant garantee no problems for others though we all know how random computers can be

Gordian Knot Codecs

you may need to re register some system files as WMV is the windows standard format in windows media player, if you dont use windows media player you may have trouble playing those files.

there is a ton of codec packs out there, just do a little google search and you should find a codec pack which guarantees you wont have to download another codec again.

lol how did you aquire your nick name? Quite interesting your work mates know you by it. ;)

ahhh, i'll tell you about it next time were out on a cruise about how i got my nick =)

as for my work mates using my nick... well, i work for a computer store, we game against each other on almost a daily basis, half the time we just call each other by our nicks coz that what were used to (as i met my employer threw lanning/gaming) and we've entered heaps of tournaments together (like the $20,000 big pond game arena BF2 comp - where we made top 16, and lost to the eventual winners), so yeah, being called fishpaste or fish is the norm for me and i wouldnt have it any other way =)

oh, and if you see anyone with the [AdR] clan tag, frag em for me =)

and worst case scenario for all the firewall/security bs is you can go into the services section in control pannel -> administrative tools and dissable it from there

The only codecs I've found I ever need are xvid/divx and ffdshow. Haven't had any issues running any formats and I download a lot of movies/tv shows. I use media player classic and vlc player for some files that have issues skipping into them.

  • 2 weeks later...

In the latest firmware update for PS3 they have included rumble support.

Stupid stubbon sony, they should of settled with imersion tech years ago.

Now they are going to have to redo their controller with rumble.

    • Just got the car back and gave it a good run back home Power wise, whilst it only made a extra 5 killerwasps up top at 7200 rpm, it made more power everywhere from 2500 rpm and kept pulling much harder all the way, to the point of me relearning when to shift so I don't hit the 7200 limiter, with the old intake it seemed to take alot more time to rev out, and, throttle response is also much improved  As I didn't want to remove the bumper every time I serviced the air filter (basically every aftermarket and fabricated CAI has the filter behind the bumper) it currently has a hektic exposed pod in the engine bay sucking in hot air, this will be rectified shortly after some some of my CAD (cardboard assisted design) for a alloy heat shield feed by the OEM intake tube behind the bumper, this will cop some wrinkle black paint, as well as the intake pipe for that totally OEM look... The only fly in the ointment was that the OEM "strut" brace doesn't fit over the rear runner of the new intake with the 2.5 engine is in the engine bay, as the 2.5 raises the engine up by 20mm, it's not a war stopper, and I didn't notice any difference without it in some twisties, but....... MX5 Mania is bringing in some GWR "fancy pants" braces that apparently do fit, if it bolts up I'll grab it, it is also stiffer than the OEM one, which is a bonus All in all I'm happy with the outcome      Fancy pants "strut" brace that gives the required clearance      This is where the clearance issue was, the GWR extends out past this
