Don't get me started on IT Warehouse, biggest bunch of knob heads ever to exist! I went in there, asked for some top of the line components only to be laughed at, told they are crap and to use them at my own risk. One part (can't remember what) had a lifetime warranty so the moron behind the counter chimed in with "Oh, they give you a lifetime warranty because they expect it to fail" I put down the parts, told them to shove their service and walked out.

lol..Cubes is kidding...:P

i guessed as much.... possibly the fact that the motherboard hasent been made for 5+ years is a good indication that someone is kidding ;)

retail side of things in the computer industry is sooo tough these days!!! =( and customers have to really know their stuff or else!! simple things i pick up all the time, like: the corsair 620W PSU heslo got (if purchsed from the place he linked to) only came with a 1 year waranty, as opposed to the 5 years it is supposed to... but then again, the dollar is everything to most people... i'll just go whimper in a corner to myself... =P

http://www.nintek.com.au/ (which seems to be currently down)

Or not....

Personally i havn't bought from them but know some one that has AGES ago and didn't have issues but know someone that did recently and had HUGE problems with them, ended up costing him another $150 of back and forth postage.

so my brother got a 4000 dollar scholarship for uni the lucky bastard.

And he wants to build a new computer, so whats everyones suggestion.

We will need the following, CPU, RAM, motherboard, videocard, case + powersupply, video card

He can have my old 17 inch lcd (i use my 32 inch as my monitor now) and he already has mouse, keyboard, cd burner, etc, etc so really only need the actual computer.

He is looking to spend around a grand or so but a few hundred extra would be no problem.

We aren't bothered about whether it's intel or AMD, but videocard must be Nvidia (i was born a 3dfx boy and i'll die one)

if your a GDFX boy should u get a SLI voodoo 5, you seem too always know about pc yet now you ask us what we think :(

sorry if this post seems harsh but ive seen you argue over stuff on so many ocasions

all i can say is C2D and OCZ ram but i cant check nothing ATM as work pc is so slow loading with on 4mb video card

i probably wouldn't get a voodoo 5.

He mostly wants it for gaming.

I do know an awful lot about computers, but i'm interested in your opinions as i respect them.

Plus i'm interested in what kinds of prices you can find.

edit*

i looked back madaz as to your comment.

And i'll agree i'll argue over things like stalker, but i was right about that one.

And also look at the backflip sony have done with rumble.

go ebay.

Elixir 533 ddr2 ram, $132 delivered for 2 gig, or $140 for 667mhz ram. I use this brand and Id back it 100%.

Grab a nice $200 delivered motherboard, something like an Asus P5n32-sli deluxe (awaiting mine) so you can use 2 graphics cards in sli both at 16x speed.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Asus-P5N32-SLI-SE-D...1QQcmdZViewItem

Then look for 2 x pcie cards, maybe 7600gt's or something around the mark, say $200 each?

Grab a lga775 cpu chip, say a 3.2 or a 3.4 or even a 3.6ghz, not that expensive these days, great for overclocking too

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Intel-Celeron-3-6GH...1QQcmdZViewItem

make sure you have a decent case and power supply..... I use Thermaltake Soprano with extra fans.

not meaning to preach to you, but definately doable for $1000.

hmm i like the motherboard i'll look futher into that.

I'm not sure about that cpu though espcially as it's a celeron. Have you had any experiance with it yourself tangles?

and on the graphics front i beleive (and i may be wrong) that 1 400 dollar card would be better than 2 200 dollar cards.

yeah it was just a quick 1min search/opinion.

I wouldnt use Celeron for gaming either.... sorry, was a quick search, but it gives you an idea.

that motherboard would only be good if used as its intended, ie with 2 x graphics cards in SLi mode.

I just picked up another MSI 7800GTX card for $190 delivered off ebay, hence why Im going to grab that board so I can use 2 of 'em, just awaiting delivery. If you are going to spend $400 on a vid card, look into the 7950gx2...... 1gig ram with 2x processors, awesome.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
