I am going to change the front R32GTR diff with an ATS lsd tomorrow with the sump in the car. I've access to a hoist and air.

I've been told that this will be a very difficult job. Has anyone done it? Can I have some tips to speed up the process so I can see the final races at Clipsal tomorrow?

Do you guys know what oil is recommended for the ATS LSD?

Many thanks in advance.

Yeah its about a four hour job on a hoist....ive done worse jobs before....its not to bad.

the LSD did not come with the any bearing...I should have a look prior .....and the late sunday start did not help at all. The whole mission was aborted.

It looks like a fairly involved process but doable. Do you have any tips or short cuff for this?

So what you are saying is, all the workshops around the world are not doing it "properly" who don't pull the engine.

No...I didn't say that at all. I would like to know if it's possible to setup the preload and backlash on the car though?? It doesn't look like it to me.

I guess you could always drop the subframe and pull the sump off but that isn't really an easier option.

Yes it is possible...much easier than taking the engine out...why the new found interest in front diff's Mik?

So...you can pull the pinion and shaft out with the sump still on?

My diff decided it had enough...

Yes everything to properly set up the front diff can be done while sump still in the vehicle.

Too much power?? or was torque split being controlled by something other than ATTESSA??

I can see that it possible to shim up the bearing side thrust on the car, but I can't see how the pinion and shaft can come out to change the spacer.

Standard ATTESA. Went bang when it came on boost. Feels like it's broken the spider gears assembly.

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
