I noticed there must be a few members from/in balarat here.

I will be visiting over easter (from thursday, till monday/tuesday)

Keep an eye out for me and give us a wave if you see me....

Any things I SHOULD do while there?

Is Sovreign Hill worth seeing?

This is my first trip interstate, and I am looking forward to it...

Sovereign Hill is awesome... if you're into that type of thing.

You can check out the old beam pump, take a guided tour of a mine, pan for gold..... and one of my personal faves... watch the dudes making stuff in the lolly shop!

It really is a step back in time, so be sure to wear boots or crappy shoes, last time I went it had been raining, and they didn't have concrete footpaths in the 1850's = very muddy

Make sure you go visit the gold museum.. it has all sorts of groovy stuff...

I was fascinated by the display of stuff relating to the foot binding of the Chinese women whose husbands worked in the goldfields.

Not sure if it was a permanent display, museums change their displays all the time so that you can go there more than once and not get bored.

Another thing you should do, is go take a photo of your car sitting in front of Kryal Castle.

I think the car has finished depreciating to that extent.....

But yeah, it's pretty crazy i know...

Worth about the same as an R32 now.... but I bet the R32's as new price was a lot lower than $140,000 :P

Sounds like I will have to do the cliche thing and go and check out sovreign hill (If it's open!)

I will ask my friend where Kryal Castle is.... maybe get some photos...

Is lake wendoorie a good spot for photos too?

I will keep my eyes peeled for the white Q too :P

Edited by PimpnQ45

kryal castle is on the western freeway just past all the ballarat exits goin towards melb

the lake isnt too bad, there is also another park just south of it on the other side of sturt st

here is a basic map of ballarat which has just the main streets on it

should b useful to u if u havent got one already

note: i used this map for someone else. the place thats got "donuts here" is the other park i was talkin bout above

feel free to do donuts if u wish

Thanks for the map !

I have one printed out, but doesn't have as much scope as that one...

As for the Donuts........ hmmmm... I don't think that would be a good idea :P

nothin beats their cinnamon sticks covered in belgian chocolate :) addicted to them. anyhow enjoy ur time in ballarat. its not as cold as ppl think

Hmmmm , now I'm tempted! hahahaha

I don't mind the cold, but yeah, I don't like freezin my ass of either!!

Hope to see a few Skylines and other tough nissans in my travels, but I have heard the scene tends to be dominated by V8's out that way.. :

Anyways, if you see me, give a flash of your high beams or a toot!!

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
