That should buff right out :)

But seriously, I passed you as well yesterday coming out of Long Gully road. Would have stopped but it looked as though you were ok and everything was pretty well sorted by then.

If it's any consultation, I just got back from the Hong Kong sevens and the drivers over there and particularly over the border in China have to be seen to be believed. They make even ACT drivers look marginally competent.

Hope it all works out ok for you.

As mentioned, glad to hear you are A-OK! Seems to be that a lot of "incidents" are not so much being caused by the "hoons" anymore but more-so people with a lack of skill behind the wheel, lack of sleep, or lack of common sense!

I got the price quotes from just jap. All second hand parts. If they want new parts prices then it will surely be a write-off.

Im not too worried. In a way I hope it gets written off for a few reasons.

1) It will be about 2 - 3 weeks getting repaired due to the fact the engine has to come out, engine bay striped and the front of the car unstitched. I will be without a car for about 2 months if they try to fix it. :)

2) Ill be able to buy a 2 door or mabye chip in a bit more cash and get myself a 2 door GTS-4. :)

my GF has been hit by a truck and he drove off. nothing she could do.

apparently theres a law that if a truck driver is "unaware" that he/she has caused or been involved in an "accident" and drives off theyre not liable. WTF BS is that!

at least hes taken responsibilty. good job handling it all :)

I just found out that in Just Car Insurance's policy it says that unless I have full comprehensive insurance they will not chase the other insurance company for me. Fair enough I guess. After im back on the road I will be going to full coverage.

They did send me an example of the letter I have to write so it should not be a problem.

Buggah :)

Uh maybe a silly question, but if you only had third party insurance, then why did you think anyone might chase anyone for u? Only full comps do (at least, far as I know, and even then not all the time!).

Once again, good to see ur calm about it and thinking forwards not backwards!

UNLUCKY mate

i was staionary at the lights and someone hit me up the back of my car doing 80+ km/h car written of and me still with a bad back.

if you have any injuries that where not there before the accident make sure to get them checked out as long term it costs you money when it was there fault.

Daniel

Buggah :D

Most insurance companies have in their policies that if an accident is not your fault then they will help you recover costs. In the money they charge is also a fee for them doing this. That way they make their customer happy (and make sure they still have a car to insure with them) and also make a little cash.

Im with justcar though so I dont have this in my policy.

Things just went from bad to worse anyhow. I got a call sunday morning from the guy that hit me. He told me that the truck he was driving was actually his personal truck and not his work truck. Oh, and that he has no insurance.

I got a quote from tony ferugia today that says the car is an economical write-off, and ill be getting another one tomorrow. I guess ill have to find a good lawyer.

Anyway guys, ill keep ya posted.

I assume he gave you all his details?? Last name, address, phone number?

People that drive without insurance are pretty freakin loopy, please violate him sideways (financially) so that he learns his lesson.

Ouch!

I would definately be finding a good lawyer as its going to be -very- hard to get your money. Was anything defective on the car at all? If so I would advise to get it off before he/his lawyer can get a look at it. It can be argued otherwise that the car was defectable and you shouldnt have been driving it in the first place.

Good luck... know a friend who had a bad accident and the people that hit him were insured. 4 months later the ball is only just starting to roll and he probably wont see a cent for another 12 months. Hope this guy has the spare cash to pay you or else youre going to find yourself severely out of pocket.

Good luck.

He could also be making up that the car isn't insured. If you've given the insurance company his details I'm sure they can look this stuff up. He could just be trying to get out of it becuase he doesn't want to pay his excess and get his premium raised (or what ever way it goes).

My car is 100% legal, registered and had the compulsary 3rd party insurance. No problems there at least. My main problem at this point is that as soon as I tell people that it is an R32 they are not interested in quoteing. A&A have been the least helpful at this stage.

I called him and asked for a quote. He got all my details (including the cars) and said it would be no problem. I pay to get the car towed their and then he tells me that it is not a write-off, but he cant repair it. Then he says that he cant give me any sort of quote.

Anyways. Im talking to my lawyer tonight so ill see what happens.

Well, looks like things are going to be ok. I spoke the the bloke that hit me and he seems keen on buying whats left of my car and making it a hill climb rally car. I have organised for a replacement car which has been freshly imported from japan and is already complied. Hopefully by next friday it will be mine and ready to be transported to canberra by truck. Here are some pics of it.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
