Hi all,

Time to put the upgrading plan into practice now. Just to give you guys some idea of my gtst: RB20 engine, 33 turbo, mines computer, intercooler, full exhaust.....I think that's all for the mechanic parts. So, since I dont know much abt mechanic stuff, and wanna get my car faster. Some friend rekoned me to start with a boost controler, what do you guys think?? :D

I was rekoned with a "ID3 boost controller", is it good? would cost me about $800 to get a brand new one and put it into my car then tune it right. Price good? will it bring big difference to my car?

Yeah, I know my questions might seems silly, but I have met quite a few nice skyliners here, so please give me your appinions, or what do you think would be even a better way to upgrade my car? ( Money is a big issue for me, since I am just a fulltime student. BTW, anyone can get me a part timie job with reasonable wage? ) THx alot. Looking forward to your replies. CHeers! :sorcerer:

A boost controller would definitely make a difference. The ID3 is not bad, but a bit more complicated to set n tune. If money is an issue, maybe getting a reasonable mechanical bleed valve would save u some money. Of cuz it wont be as good as using an electronic one but still will make a difference. I think the Greddy Profec electronic boost controllers are still one of the best when it comes to holding boost which is impt to me, try sourcing fer 2nd hand used ones on the market.

Where are u studying @ anyway?

I think if you have budget constraints then a mechanical bleed valve controller is the way to go. I have similar mods but on a R33 and the boost contrller is a $35 mechanical one and it is fantastic!! It does not move or leak. Set at 12pound and is solid at every tune. If you do that now, an electronic controller could be saved for a later date.

harsh Dave!

Hi Ryan, when am I actually going to get to meet you (I am Andrew's gf, remember?).

Anyway, $800 for a brand new unit including installation and tuning is an awesome price! However, I have to question your motive for wanting a $600 unit when you are on a tight budget...

THx for the replies!

Rhinorebel, I think I will go for the eletronic ones. and ya, my English is not very good, thx for reminding me. But hey, I am not writing an essay here, or, maybe you can teach me English sometimes?

J-Boy, as for your last question, hope you were not thinking the same thing as Rhinorebel did..... So, I'd better not mentient my school name( I live in St Lucia though ;)

Anna, thx for your kind words. and, though I have tight budget, and Andrew has already rekon the manual controler to me as they are cheap and works fine. still, I just wanna get things done properly once and for good. I have seen some cars using manual ones causing oil leak, etc. so I will just go to the eletronic ones. BTW, I would be free on Sunday, let me know if you2 are free, Andrew has my number:)

9krpm, turbo Honda aye? it must be damn fast....I got some friends in Sunnybank with some Hot civics, So I know how nice they are, haha

twoquik, yeah, I hope after putting the boost controler in, my car can be "twoquik", Cheers!

Hey Ryan, If budget is a factor try the manual boost controller!! If you dont like it it is only $35 wasted...I really do urge you to try it first that $800 could go to something more useful...like most of a power FC!!!

Oh, got another friend offering an APEXI AVCR to me for about the same price. Which is better?? any other suggestions?

The id3 solenoid is known for better controll over boost...My AVCR does not hold boost that well at all

My suggestions would be (If you really must have a EBC) Blitz sbc spec r or a greddy profec B spec 2 both are a few hundred dollars cheaper and work just as well

Oh, got another friend offering an APEXI AVCR to me for about the same price. Which is better?? any other suggestions?

Use the search function and you will find a write up i did over a year ago on ID3 vs AVC-R...

In short ID3 all day every day...

Bunta, see u this Sunday.

Col, have read ur thread, I think I will go for the ID3 now:) THx a lot! BTW, goodluck with ur car sale, the yellow color is really nice and smart~~

J-Boy, hmm...... I seldom drift in campus, the school securities driving around all the time. I thought I saw a neat white 32 the other day, I always say hi to other skyliners. hope to see you soon:)

    • Thanks Mate, I did know you could do that but i know there is a pump out there that you can bolt on and it all lines up. I was told about it and then forgot the model, I figure if i am pulling it apart i will just put a new one on
    • You can also remove the veins from the HICAS portion of your existing pump.
    • Trying to swap the rear subframe on my R34 and can't remove the L-shaped stay brackets between the front subframe mounts and the sill/chassis. I'm in the UK so rust is a problem. I've used loads of WD40 and then Tunap 103 for days beforehand. I backed off the bolts forward a bit, backward a bit repeatedly for ages to try and avoid snapping. They have all moved a few full turns. The one I've spent most time on has come loose and I can turn with fingers, and it will pull down and push up 2-3mm. But it won't come out. I can tighten it back up and loosen it off again repeatedly but it still won't come out. I assumed there's a captive nut inside but if that's broken loose then I can't understand why I can always tighten the bolt back up - I'd expect it to just spin both ways. Any ideas what's happening here? I can't visualise what's inside there to cause this.
    • Cheers, yeah it was recently imported, is the actual Nissan not an Infiniti so will have to do some chasing around for parts.    Any ideas if the side skirts from a Q50 would fit on the 400r?
