Alex - PM Sent with my address for the pick up of the wing to make your mould.

Sorry for the delay guys - AusPost wouldnt take it cause it was 10cm overlength and Easter was a blurr.

Alex

Just came backfrom the Drifts at Ipswich, 200k. The back window and tailgate were disgustingly dirty. Will a spoiler like the RED one help keep this area clean, or is it just for show?

Some years ago when Chrysler Aust. made their Stn Waggon with a built in/on spoiler, i remember the spent "millions" gettin it right to keep the back screen clean.

Anyone got any thoughts/experience on this.

Spoiler probably won't help much. Late model Commodore Wagons (VT on) have a 'wind deflector' that guides air from the roof down over the back screen, this is to stop the dust from sticking and I think they work ok. The wing won't do this so not sure of the effect, being a very vertical rear window it attracts the most amount of grim possible as there is a lot of swirl and not a great deal of air flow down the window.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Luke

could a section of the spoiler have a louvre in it that could be opened or shut.

Or maybe a kit for those that wanted it.

I realise this would make it more expensive but am thinking how to make it practical as well as good looking.

I will see if I can design something like this into the spoiler, however I am not sure there is much we can do about it as the stagea rear is very perpendicular to the direction of travel and creates a very large venturi.

keep you updates.

3intheback - i will send you a TNT con note thing this week via express post.

Alex, had alook at my neighbours spooler which appears identical to the RED one.I think that if I used double thickness d/s sticky abd left gaps for some air flo, it might keep the back window a bit (much) cleaner. Any thoughts?

I am just going to pickup 3's spoiler tonight, I will test fit it on and see how it goes.

At this stage though, the air flow duct is looking less probable as it would be quite difficult to engineer in, where of the 5 or so people interested, you are the only one thats relly after that feature.

I will make the closest possible thing I can to the red one, even the way it lines up with the lines on the side of the car (ill do it better than both on previous page )

Ill provide bolts, GOOD 3M double sided tape, instructions and everything with the spoilers of how to install them. This will be a full "spoiler add-on kit", its going to be done right.

Just want to know currently who is 100% interested in purchasing.

After I talk tomorrow with my guy with the spoiler in hand, Id like to get some deposits from people to help in producing the mould etc (will be out of my pocket). Naturally, the deposit will be used as credit towards the final unit price when the kit is available.

I will confirm pricing etc all tomorrow/this weekend too.

I am in, 100% just tell me when you need the deposit!

How much extra do you thing it would be to colour match and paint locally? I understand it's a bit hard to colour match my car in QLD when you are in Vic >_<

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
