Does anyone know of anyone that specialises in fixing th gauges on the dash board?

Last night, notice my speedo is out by approximately 5k according to the avc-r.

the fuel gauge is also WAY WAY out. It's showing it has more fuel in the car when really it doesnt have what it says in it.

Wanting to get this done on Saturday, so anyone know of any, would be great.

Have you got aftermarket rims?

Noticed my speedo is slightly out vs the PFC, I'm guessing that this is resulting from actual output from the vehicle speed sensors and also from change in rolling diameter(can be out by a significant amount depending on the size you get).

Your fuel reading: Open up your fuel tank and check the fuel level sender thing (big long piece of plastic). It's supposed to be supported on a bracket and if it has come off then it won't give a correct reading. ie - I don't think this is an instrumentation problem.

all this was working perfectly fine before the white dials were installed.

i know its the needles that are out of place for sure!

dan's going to look at this again tomorrow though.

did you do the dials? if you did then you will know what i'm talking about. you would of put the needles back in the wrong place to fix them it will take some time you will have to take it out again take off the clear cover put it back in start your car and put the needle back on the 0 km's per hour with the fuel full your car then put the needle on full. should work.

lol i was in my mates car the other day, and noticed his tacho on the dash, the needle sits on the highest point and when he revs it gets lower, ie idle on 6500 and when flooring it is at 3000 etc i found it so ammusing.. lol

ABLE INSTRUMENTS: ph 3801 1232. They are at Loganholme. These guys are pretty good. I even used them to shorten the speedo drive cable on my R32 when I installed the RB25 gearbox.

since having the white dials put in and having the needles read correctly has been a bit of a mission since then. hence why these 2 are out by a bit.

if you have ever physically moved your speedo needle with your finger or something, its pretty much f**ked

I learnt from experience :miner:

Can you remember the cost??? I know how much my speedo is out, but if it didnt cost much it might be worth it.

At the dyno night im gonna get them to see how close 100kph is on my dial as to what the dyno says...

This is the best way to tell how well your spedo is calibrated...

As compaired to other cars i mean... Cause whos to say the dyno is right?

you could always just wait til I fix it and all will be ok.

Like I said to you, the fuel guage was the only drama because I set it up on under half a tank. All that needs to be done is fill it up and re-set it. As for the speedo, wait til you get it on the dyno and then tell me how far out it is.

When I was a surveyors assitant doing road condition surveys we had to recalibrate the speedo every day due to tyre wear, I was surprised how much it was out each time. This is an extreme case I know but it just showed me how inaccurate car speedos are (we had an an electronic jobby in the test vehicle), we tested it on a stretch of road that had 1km marked on it and at the start point I had to spray the mark on the tyre and at the 1km mark the computer would tell us where the mark should be and then compare to where it actually was.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
