Red Top / Silver Top RB20DET.. How can u tell the difference?

Curios as to whether there is a way to tell a silver top rB20det to a red top RB20det other then the colour of the rocker

Is there any distinguishing features in the engine bay / or maybe even inside the cabin

And wot is the difference between the 2 thats makes the silver top more powerful?

The intake manifold is different, apart from that, theres not much else thats physically different between the red top and silver top at a glance.

Red top heads flow shite loads better due to 12 port.

I was under the impression that the Silver Top has more power?

Listed power figures on the net. I have no idea if these are accurate. Anyone care to englighten?

Red top are NICS and Silvers are ECCS i believe

Those power figures are pretty close to right I think. A few kw out maybe, nothing to cry about. The 6port head of the ECCS rb20 flows shitloads better than the 12port of the NICS version.

I think the problem with the nics is not so much the flow capabilities but the way the computer was mapped from the factory.

Red Top were ECCS in later versions

im still to get the software/maps for NICS
