hahaha obviously becuase you are intending to catch up with me in the blown engine race :(

kennards have made a business out of hiring stuff for half the price of buying one outright....then it plays with your mind....would I ever need this again or will it just take up space in the shed.....

ummm i dont think i wanna get near you duncan..

havent blown up and engine yet, and dont want to..

i just pull motors out of cars for fun..

currently converting lancer to manual cos auto is soooo annoying lol

but yeah, it can be used for heaps of stuff really... not just engines.

Did your dodgy engine-in 'rebuild' go sour? Or did you come to your senses and decide to remove it and do things properly?

it wasnt dodgy you moron. just because i dont need to take a motor out to fix it, it doesnt mean it was a dodgy build.

the problem ended out being the gtr rods i bought werent standard size (big end dia.). that was the only reason it didnt go together properly. so how about you keep little comments like that to yourself till you know what actually happened.. mmk pumpkin.

You tell him .....

Ah well we all learn by our mistakes.

Good luck with it this time, if i was you i'll check the crank for runout as well.

crank is going to have everything done to it, including balancing. the heads going in for a service too.

Good to see you are not taking any risks this time around, make sure your crank guy is someone you can trust to do the job right ( a lot dont ), i always check it myself when i get it back .

Bearing clearances are very important too, make sure you check or have someone check them for you .

Dont rush things , take your time assembling and checking more than once and you will be right this time .

Are you reboring the block ? If i was you i would ..

  • 4 weeks later...

nah i didnt do a re-bore. clearances were fine with the hone and i got good pre-run in compression when i had it on the road before it stuffed up again.

crank and bearings are coming in on monday so it should all be back together before the next weekend (fingers crossed).

    • All 3 I guess. The car came with the JASI Aero 4 door Type R Full Kit unpainted so this was one thing at the top of my list to complete then I noticed there were body panels parts for this kit so i picked them up along with some black mesh to fill in the front bumper and front side air vents. car is at a paint and body shop atm completing this work. Next I will be addressing the internal bells and whistles, great summer project I can do with the kids.  full interior removal - ,boys car sound deadening - pads and spray ,boys stereo, sound, lighting - Big 3, GTT or bigger alternator ,kids head lining - dye black add star lighting mod ,daughter. That's it for the next 5-6 months. I have some motor maintenance  work i have to plan out. oil filter relocation, gaskets, mounts. beyond that, mind is starting to turn over if i can use a DET intake plenum, block off turbo ports & pipe in a air intake.
    • roller coaster of a ride. Alarm system was removed & main harness was repaired where possible. still no fix just random successful starts. moved on to the replacing the ignition switch and relay. well all this troubleshooting & repair has been going on, the car is at a paint and body shop being pushed around. Ive been going down there on odd days after work to get it sorted.

    • I think he was only proposing to use the wire, not the sender. Simply because it runs from the right place to the right place. Personally, I wouldn't hack up the factory wiring like that. I'd just lay in the Defi loom.
