I have a problem with the engine water going to over 100 degrees c. when driving at low speeds.

The engine has now been rebuilt and i checked the water pump, changed the termostat to a sard 68c. and changed to a koyo aluminium radiator.

But I still have the same problems....

Can anyone give me some advice on what else to look for?

What is the normal watertemp on a rb26?

Thanks in advance!

Make sure there isnt any air in the system, and that you are using the right mix of coolant/water???

Driving my one around town i get it up to 84 degrees, but spirited driving can get it up quite high of course

What are you using to monitor the temps with?, and what model of car do you have, your info says an S13, its possible if you have done a engine conversion, and have used the rb26 dash temp sender, instead of the one meant for your model of car, it's reading different, just went through this myself, at 90 degree's, the needle in my 33 with a 26 sender was off the top of the dial, witht he 25 sender its down at mid way where it should be..

its a r33 gtr engine in a s13.

Right now I am using the comander on my apexi pfc to read the watertemp.

The needle in the dash only moves a few millimeters when the engine is hot.

Can I change the rb sender with my original s13 sender to get it working?

Where are the sender located on the enine?

Yes, you can use the S13 gauge sender. Its pretty innacurate though. Doesn't start reading to 50 + degrees and doesn't actually read over halfway untill around 100 to 105 degrees. The engine thermistor that the Power FC is reading is a much more accurate way of reading the temperature. You can screw the CA sender in the same place that the RB25 one fits. I've ditched my standard gauge completely now and use a Defi HUD to monitor temperatures.

What sort of radiator fan, intercooler and front bumper have you got and is it a european 200SX i.e hatchback RS13 ?

I've found the RS13 does need a lot more thought when you fit an RB, particuarly one with two turbos as it has much less grille area than a Skyline. Even with a aluminium Koyo, efficient shrouding and the biggest fan you can get on it cooling is very marginal when stationary, slow (sub 40mph) and also at sustained 85mph + speeds.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
