I'd definitely look at getting more than just the rear muffler. It's fine for when you're accelerating or slowing down, but when you're driving at constant throttle (such as on the freeway or cruising around town), the extra size and shape of the wagon body does make it too loud.

I love the way my car sounds when I'm giving it a good rev (and have had nothing but positive comments from everyone I know), but when you're just chilling out it's really tiring to hear that drone. I'm going to have a good look at my exhaust soon (I've never really taken a good look at how it's comprised), and am going to get another silencer on to kill the droning...

Still in the process of putting a good but not too expensive sound system together, which should releive some of the noise issue.

Has any one seen, or heard one of these in action? Not sure how effective they would be, just block the exhaust off to various degrees to muffle it...

There was one installed on a Stagea I had inspected at auction, had GTR IC and a few too many other mods that scared me off though!

This Link might be a little easier for you to read

ok let me get this clear....

resonator, silencer, muffler... differences?

cos i was thinking this - turbo, dump pipe, cat, resonator, split pipe, twin mufflers (cannons).

i have NO idea.

and good to see that bar painted andy, looks sweet. goddam no roofracks...

Exhausts are not as easy as "add this and this"

Resonators are just that, tubes that cut down the volume of certain resonant frequencies (lets refer to them as certain RPM)

Mid mufflers and rear mufflers are mufflers (hence, muffle) the sound.

You need to be very careful when choosing a reso as you need to choose one to cut down specific RPM. Id try to get one for ~2200-2700 and ~3000-3500 as i found when I had my xforce system that they were the most droney places.

The wagon is a bitch, being a single cabin you hear EVERYTHING the exhaust does and also amplifies the sound.

The route that I would take these days (after experiance with 3 different exhausts) is either

- (The louder exhaust) Split dump/front, one of the metal cats, mid muffler, resonator, twin straight pipe tips (no rear muffler)

- (The more quite exhaust) Split dump/front, one of the metal cats, mid muffler, magna flow rear muffler

- (The ultimate exhaust) Split dump/front then straight pipe to the end of the car, twin 2.5inch tips (I love twins)

You can also have twin resonators installed as mentioned above.

PS - When i first bought my fuji exhaust, it sounded good on idle. Now it has a popping noise (not like a back fire, more "dry fart" like) and i suspect its from me possibly melting the glass packing inside the muffler..........anyone know if this is fixable at all?

goddammit you guys... i thought this was going to be the EASY part... ok then. might go the top option, as id say that may be the best option for having it split into two at the back, one to each side. if im not thrilled with the amount of noise, i can still put a rear muffler on each?

tough luck on the easy part buddy. took me weeks to understand the terms these guys use.

Anyway always go for the bigger size exhaust just in case if next time you would want to power up your car next time.

im thinking a cannon either side, or split pipes either side like that. like the VIP celsior, or soarer look. with a mid muffler and a resonator for around 3-3500, and maybe one for 2-300. sound right? too much?

I like twin-tips too, whether it's the twin angle cuts like Alex has posted, or one on each side. Two cannons (in either of these configurations) would look nice on a Stagea, I reckon.

well twin pipes looks better with the body works that the stageas. it looks more need i suppose.

a big 115mm pipe looks macho but it looked a bit out of place like ans ass hanging out of a tight skirt

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
