hey guys,

my 'line is running an APEX'i Auto Timer and an aftermarket alarm (not sure on the brand -_-') the problem is, if i forget to wait for the timer to run down and the engine to shut off before arming the alarm, then it sets off the alarm when it does eventually turn off. it's probably a really easy fix but i'll be buggered if i can find the cause.

any ideas?

Have a look in Fast Fours Magazine Security In Motion have an alarm with a turbo timer built in so you can have your alarm on while the turbo timer is still running and your car is safe from the time you get out and press the remote. Good value too.

Your problem is easily fixed.

Any Alarm will hook up to a turbo timer.

You need to get a 12v 5 pin 30amp relay. Dont go to Dick smith, they often sell cheap lower voltage relays to you. Go to a reputable place Repco or somewhere.

Repco Sell narva Relay's these are the best

to wire the relay to the turbo timer

- turbo timer (your wiring color will vary depending on model of timer)

- Constant 12v - to an uninterupted 12v source - make sure you use a fuse

- Accessories - helps to set the timer

- Earth - a clean metal part of the car

- Ignition - runs the car when key off

- Park brake arm - Ground sensor - connect to parking brake to arm turbo timer

Relay wiring ( cut the cars ignition wire)

30 - Engine Side of ignition wire

85 - Ground

86 - Key side of ignition

87 - Ignition input of alarm

87a - turbo timer igniton feed

You will also need to use a diode between pins 87a and 87 with the line on the diode facing ( on the same side as ) pin 87a.

Let me also give you a few tips on how to make your car more secure.

1 - Hide the LED - this lets the theif know that you have an alarm and they come prepared - take them by surprise every time

2 - hide the valet switch

3 - keep your keys in a safe place

4 - make sure your installer is qualified and reputible. An alarm is only as good as its instalation.

5 - dont tell people ( not even your mom) what sort of alarm you have. Dodgy people down load all sorts of things from the internet

6 - dont leave valuable's cd wallets etc in plain site

7 - at night park under lights

8 - when you are going to get a park somewhere turn your system down a few blocks before you get there - dont advertise that you a something worth stealing

9 - tinted windows - great for keeping out peeping eyes

There are other things that you can do to a car to make it harder to steal, not impossible, but harder. However due to the nature of wiring specifics or instaltion techniques i will not post this information on such a public forum or PM it to you. Sorry but nowadays you dont know who to trust.

Regards

I couldnt be bothered tying it again, this is the std alarm/tt interface relay. Should do the trick

    • Got my R34 gearbox around 4-5 weeks ago. Came into some extra $$ recently and after I cleaned the mess off the notes, I thought, might as well buy that R34 box I've been pondering.  In that time I've pulled the engine out, replaced rod and mains bearings, done a few other engine things that are much easier with the engina out eg PRP oil pump upgrade, replacing wastegate coolant lines, installing Turbosmartass turbo oil pressure reg, made some mounting brackets for some of my mods that are "hard to reach", converted the R34 box to R33, put the engine and new gearbox back in the car. Plus cleaning ...Oh my god so much cleaning when doing such a project. Yep I'm a busy bee, buzz buzz. As part of the gearbox project, researched posts and found this thread (In which i nailed it for the OP), hence the post here # logical thinking.. Not all about you old boy, SOrrryyy. Dare I ask,  how's yours going ,> Or you got it done yet, and if so why didn't you post any of the tips I posted to help other members? ???
    • Seems to be the case mate , still an OK price for a grey import.
    • I’m interested in the carbon diffuser fins and Toshiba MFD screen replacement if they’re still available.
    • @GTSBoy yeah i know it was not the "great" idea but it is and option...but i think i will stay on no BoV rather then trying to make it work with "half" this and that. But that GReddy FV2 is cool...i like that you can make it like stock if you want (and have/make the custom pipes) For other thanks! it was alot of information. But for the sound...a dont rly "like" both of them...specialy if they are loud...but if i "must" choose i would rather have little whooosh rather than sutututu with no BoV....BUT that is what is i gonna get. So for the all info i gather. In my case:  No BoV is not that bad cuz it is stock...and iam used to put N/clutch right after rpms are around 1000 so it should be ok...just need to avoid "big" drops. But i do not have the engine in the car so i do not really know how "bad" or good it is. But as i had that little test drive it looked ok. The atmo BoV should be worse car would dump to much fuel specialy between the shifts...so without proper tune/ECU i dont want that. BUT with that...car should drive ok with no problems right? (i do like there is less piping wih this solution) 🙂
    • Usually an RB20 won't stay in closed loop idle anyway. The O2 sensor gets too cold, stops swinging.
