Well finnally after 4 months I finnally have a new set of mags. For those who dont know two were bent in an accident, and had to be replaced. So I went on a mission to try to find two of the same I had, with no luck, so I had to make a choice, and couldnt find anything I really liked and these were the closest and available so just went with them.

The dish is about 75mm deep, which at first I wasnt a huge fan of, but now after seeing them on the beast I am starting more and more to like them.

And here is the result:

The mighty koya's, are they? nice looking wheel, love the smokey centre with machined lip look. thats what i went for. mine looked a lot darker in the shop than they do in sunlight though...

Little bit of dish on a wagon goes alright, hey.

yep got dish too. got staggered dish?

and just quietly, what size tyres are you running on those? ive got 225s and 245s... just fit but may cause issues when i save up for one of SK's susp. kits.

Nope, no staggered dish, but yeah yours are nice too!

Also looking at having the spokes colour match painted so that they are the same colour silver as the rest of the car, just a little bit darker would've been nice, but meh, they look a crap load better than the 4 stocker skyline wheels which were on it!

Im not sure thats wise....... being 4wd you should have same size tyres all round on the 4 wheels.

so i hear! but the problem was 245s dont fit that well at the front of a stagea... so i had two 18in kumho ectsa supras to sell, and had to pick up a pair of 225s to fit.

its not like anyof the tyres break traction, or ive got 2 way lsds or anything so i figure just this once... looks super tough from the rear.

yeah I hear ya..... Im running 17s R34 GTT rims, 235's all round.

Im sure its the 4wd system that gets screwed over time - if ya start having 4wd issues (such as light coming on, or error codes etc) you know what it is!! lol

Not trying to scare ya or anything like that, just passing on info.

for example, madaz here in SA had a space saver rim on up front for a little while, cost him 4grand+ in repairs at the end of the day to his R32 GTS-4.

I agree with tangles. it's not traction loss you have to be concerned about,but rather the speed difference the transfer case has to cope with. different rolling diameters on each end of an awd car like ours will put extra load on the transfer as it'll be compensating for the speed difference at each axle whenever the car is moving,not just around corners. it'll run hotter,and may eventually sieze on you.

I've seen landcruisers blow tansfers from doing freeway driving with worn tyres on the rear,and newies up front...so it's entirely possible that you may suffer the same fate in the long run if you run staggered sizes...

can you get 235's in 18's or 19's (can in 17's thats for sure)?

But I agree with you, 245's would look awesome at the rear on the Stagea. Nice.

dont know the diff between Stagea and Subaru 4WD systems. My tyre supplier inadvertantly put 2o5 on the back and 225 on the front. Subaru Aust., not a dealer went ape. Result , no cost tyre change.

Something about diff wind up.

with all awd/4wd systems, the wheels are obviously meant to be rotating at the same speeds, front and back. its not the WIDTH, its the diameter. different width tyres just happen to have different rolling diameter tyres.

If you have a higher rolling diameter, your tyre doesnt need to spin as fast to go the same speed. So obviously if it differs front and back, you rear wheels will be spinning at a higher or lower speed than the front, even though your gearbox is trying to spin them at the same speed. this difference wears out you front/rear clutch packs, becuase obviously if there is a difference, there will be a slippage somewhere to make up for it. my tyres are different widths, but the diameter is pearly spot on, so unless i drive a million k's its not going to be a big issue. i hope...

I might be biased tho, because I love most mesh-style wheels, and I also LOVE dish!

    • Just trying to get my head around this. At 5psi of boost, you turn on your wmi pump, and then you're using a 3000cc injector, to allow flow upto the actual engine, where you have your 6x200cc injectors and a 500cc injector. If the above is correct, what advantage are you obtaining by having the 3000cc injector blocking flow, is this just incase a line breaks between that injector and the motor you can stop flow immediately? Or are the 6x200cc and 500cc less injectors and just spray nozzle?
    • Welcome! New member myself, but I had an R33 back in 2002. Best advice I could give, based on my experience: if you're running the factory turbo, be very conservative with boost. I made the mistake of just fiddling around with the boost controller and cranking the boost for fun, and the end result was my intake pipes popping off frequently from the constant deluge of oil that was being blown into the recirc by the stressed-out turbo, which itself was siphoning oil from the engine and farting it out both sides of its centre bearing (or something to that effect). If I could do it all again, I would have gotten a new turbo and had a tune dialled in professionally and then just left it alone! Funny you mention the metal shavings in the gearbox, as I had the same thing - the probe plug (magnetic drain plug, essentially) would come out caked with shavings. At least it was doing its job. Not sure if that's just sacrificial wear and part of the deal, or if my gearbox was shagged, but I wasn't abusing it. Enjoy the R33 - they're a dying breed, and if they weren't $35k+ on CarSales in Queensland, I might have picked up one of those again, instead of the 370GT I own now (though I'm loving the 370GT, that big 3.7L V6 just hits different).
    • Howdy folks. I owned an R33 back in 2002, which was thoroughly beyond my capacity (financially speaking) to maintain/insure, so we parted ways in 2004. Fast forward 21 years (to literally yesterday, in fact) and I'm now the proud owner of a 2007 V36 370GT. I'm happily surprised by how much power the VQ37VHR makes, compared to the RB25DET, considering the latter is turbocharged. I had planned to add a turbo at some point but I'm on the fence about whether I'll even need it (though I do love the sudden onset of extra torque). Any other 370GT owners around the traps, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car (good and bad).

    • I NEVER think about using a scissor jack unless there is absolutely no other alternative. f**king things are dangerous, annoying and stupid.
