Gtr High Idle

Well my GTR has just been rebuilt and now will not idle below 1600rpm.

Tuner says it is the idle temp controler. Is there two idle temp controlers

one was checked and was fine but the tuner says there is another.

When the car heats up it will hunt at idle from 1200-1500rpm anyone have any other ideas what it may be.

I have the same thing at the moment. Would like to know why also! Although mine does idel at 1k rpm but slowly creeps up to about 1600rpm

Has a power fc. would just like to know how hard the other idle temp controler is to get too.

When iit hunts ing timing is all over the place

is it possible, during the rebuild, that a gasket wasnt sealed properly on one or more of the throttles, creating an air leak of un-metered air?

Kind of interesting, after a fresh rebuild mine idled quite high for the first 2000kms until it was run in properly then dropped back down to normal.

The engine was smoked tested and not leaks. Yer only 350kms down i will run it in and see how i go from there.

hmm interesting, mines also just been rebuilt and idling high.. Ive done around 750kms so far, maybe after 2000kms mine will magically go away too

Mine is the same, the throttle bodies have a teflon strip which is usually cleaned off by excited people cleaning them(including me). Its there to stop them sticking....an adjustable cam wheel will effect idle rpm aswell. blocking off the idle air temp compensator when the motor is cold will solve the problem but the idle goes back up when the motor is warm.

ps when the throttle bodies get dirty the idle will drop, mines sits at 1000-1200.....which I don't mind as my cams seem to need it.

My car seems to idle very high aswell. Like most of you it's at 1600rpm. Is it gonna hurt anything, apart from fuel economy, if it stays like this though????

Yes it now idles nice but i did a mass change of parts so hard to know what was the real problem. I change CAS, AFM,Injectors,Fuel pump and new coil pack loom all at the same time .
