Im looking at purchasing a car that has a Garrett GT35R on an RB25DET (also has larger injectors, bigger fuel pump, different reg, diferent ECU)

This a good or bad combination?

Why?

Anyone else running this?

Is it much more laggy than the stock setup?

Thanks :)

All i gotta say is DO NOT get the 1.06 exhaust housing if you want to keep your car streetable.

I agree...dont go as big as the 1.06 exh housing. I have the .82 exh housing and have full boost by about 4500rpm (with cams)

It is a great turbo that comes on with a hell of a rush :)

With other supporting mods like ecu, bigger injectors, fuel pump, FPR etc I have no bad comments on it.

You could go the .63 exh housing for faster spooling...

Cheers

JB

Thanks, but I was not really just after dyno figures.

Well if you looked... you will see its clearly nothing like stock.

How can a 600/700hp turbo behave even remotely like a stock setup.

What is the purpose of the car?

What is your budget?

What power/response are you after?

Sorry, maybe my opening post was badly written.

Ive edited it to make it a bit clearer.

Im not looking at actually doing this to my car, the car Im looking at purchasing already has this done to it.

I was just after opinions from people who had a similar setup and if they thougth it was good or bad (and why).

Hope that makes sense

Ah... thats a bit different then.

But still, what do YOU wanna do with the car?

Drag work? Track work? Street?

Street.

I will make up my own mind on driveability and such after I have had a drive in it, as doubtless we all have our own preferences here.

But so far Im getting the impression its not a bad combination, as long as the housing isant too big. (but again, that would be somthing that would come out during a test drive I spose).

Hype do you find your car still streetable? Just wondering how much power you are making and have you run your car down the 1/4? Cheers.

Yeah it is streetable...will light the 265's up in second just on acceleration which is a lot of fun. I am very wary about corners though...as hitting boost on a corner might be dangerous until I get used to it

its putting down 306rwkw but haven't had a chance to run a 1/4. Only got to drive the car for 6 days after the mods installed before leaving back to London for another 4 months...so when I get back will be able to drive it a lot more. :D

For the street it's not a bad combination at all in my experience (short at 6 days so far but I love it)

Power comes on very strong on boost and is an absolute blast to drive. Do you know what exhaust housing the car you are looking at has?

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
