Thanks for posting Phunky,

I was lucky managed to get down Tooronga road before hitting the defect station. I was very very scared though. Had to stop and call Phunky just to calm myself down and so you could all get the heads up.

I have NEVER seen so many police cars and bikes in my life and both sides were at a stand still. Definately an EPA set up there aswell.

I only just got my defect off last week!!

Note to self: NEVER drive down there again.

Yeah i got pinged there in my Laser a few months ago.

EPA, Police and probably Centrelink aswell catching out the cabbies etc driving under benefits when they shouldnt be.

Its really one of the greatest wastes of resources ive heard of lately

yes, cops, vicroads, epa and centrelink all there.

unfortunately i got screwed over again by them!!!

on the opposite side of the road was a white S15 with black rims - he also looked like he was getting screwed over as bad as i was too!

STAY AWAY EVERYONE!

They were there when I wen't past this morning at about 9:30am and still there (although toned down a bit) at about 2:30pm. There were a lot of cars parked up on the nature strip next to the railway line.

As for being a waste of time, sorry but I disagree. If they get some of the seriously unroadworthy cars off the road, plus unregistered cars and unlicensed drivers - not to mentioned the boozed and drugged up - that can only be a good thing. Remember that the alternative to random inspections like this is annual inspections like in NSW......I know which I'd prefer. Also if your car has lots of illegal mods, you can't seriously complain if you get pinged....that's the risk you take.

Edit:

This has appeared on the Herald-Sun website:

Now wait for the hysterics from the VACC......

I would say its a waste. Who heartedly.

There would have been over 50+ people at this station, probably more.

When i was defected earlier this year in the same style of sting.

I was defected for (no shit) not having a rego sticker displayed because it was stolen when it was broken into. I've probably got the defect notice still lying around.

I also got defected for brake light not working at the same time.

Tell me thats seriously unroadworthy and ill die of premature heart attack.

Fair enough the car was unroadworthy. No argument there.

But no rego sticker? Thats cluctching at the short straw.

The extent of the "unroadworthy" cars they are pulling over last time i went through was for the most obscure things as i was defected for. Whilst they are defective, there are biger fish out there. Thank christ i wasnt driving the GTSR. I would have been held up for hours going over bullshit reasons

Having personally seen the cars being defected, i can make that comment.

I bet its no different this time.

I do agree with Centrelink being there for busts though, as last time i know for a fact there was 62 illegally drivers... as in, drivers working, but being on the dole/benefits at the same time.

THAT kind of sting i would condone as it saves ME money as a tax payer, AND the state coffers get some out of it.

Not making revenue solely for the state coffers and nothing more (which these stations are primarily)

I've noticed more and more cops around the past 4 weeks aswell, and surprise (as the past 2 years) its getting close to budget time.

Seems to co-incide every year. Everyone should watch the roads, and just notice the "increased" presence (read: pulling over of cars and defections)

cheers

one thing i dont like, is the attitude police display when defecting you. last defect i received (2 low - they hit a flange on my cat *GASP!* and un RW tires which hadnt even reached the wear line magically) they were rude. i treated the police officer with the upmost respect and when i went to shake his hand, he turned his back without a word. then when i said goodnight to them, they said nothing, but rather got in their 80 mil off the ground ss which magically changes lanes at 10km over the speed limit without indicating and left. i honestly wasnt rude what so ever to them, as i can simply adjust the suspensin and get an expert 2 look at the tires, sorry its a little off topic, but i honestly think that if police officers gave us an ounce of respect (when we treaeted them in the apropriate manner e.g politely) there would be a much better relationship between officers and performance car owners.

edit: oh and i almost 4got. my mum got caught on one such defect stop, allbeit smaller, just off the nepean in aspendale and she hadnt put on her new rego sticker because it was sent 2 our old address. they then proceeded to make a 50 year old woman, without her perse and any form of communication or $$$ (it had been stolen from her work) walk 6km home at 10pm as they were unwilling to let her use their phones or drive the car home. this behavour truely disgusted me!

Ash put a sock in it. Rules are rules so don't be a b|tch.

If you don't have a rego sicker on and get a defect stiff sh|t, it's there for a reason so put in on. If yo have one stollen get a new one.

I think these stations are good becuse they are not biast, they will defect ANYTHING with wheels if it does not meet specs. It's nice to see it's not an import only thing for a change....

PS - I still love you :fakenopic:

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
