hmm still i would of thought you would of got more than that.

woot scuba diving is awesome I love it the other group of five pulled out so there is just 3 of us the other two are cool people and we ended up having extra time left over to work on anything we wanted. I am trying to master hovering but damm its hard.

yeah i started playing with weights and found 5 weihts were fine two either side of my hips and one in the small of my back. I was working on trying to control my breathing so i sit in different areas in the colum of water.

i'm learning with pro dive we have been doing all the pool work at bulimba and next weekend we go to straddie and do 2 shore dives and 2 boat dive. I have always wanted to do it but have kept putting it off. I am enjoying it so much I will be buying my own fins, boots, snokel and mask.

me and my dad go diving out of our boat a fair bit, prehaps you can come along once your qualified?

We have our own gear (masks, tanks, vests, fins, etc).

If I was you id go for a lighter weight with less air in your vest. For a start, you wont waste as much air inflating it, you will be more mobile as well as a large amount of weights can be quite uncomfortable. Also, inflating the vest reduces your ability to move around.

Also, how thick is your wetsuit? A thicker wetsuit will cause added bouncy. Personally, I wear a 7mm set of johns and a 5mm top, which adds quite alot of floatation to my setup, meaning I dont have to use a whole lot of air at all to maintain even bouancy (I cant spell that word )

ahh i was only in a pool so buoyancy is going to be tricky at best, I didn't have the BCD inflated much. I was wearing a 5m wetsuit but wasn't a springer suit. I have passed all the theory and we have done most of the prac next weekend is our first dives in the ocean and as the instructer said it will take us a little bit at the start to setup out equipment but he is very surprised at how quick we have all picked up the skills (esp removing the bcd underwater and putting it back on).

How good are the mares fins as these are a set i am looking at or the aqualung fins?

cool. i used to go snorkelling off mooloolaba in the bay, when i was younger. but i dunno juststopped going, but scuba is alot better if u wanna go deep reef diving.

troy, once u are qualified u have to come up and dive the hmas brisbane off mooloolaba, that would be a good dive, lots of marine life down there since its been sunk. they showed pictures of it on the news a while back 1 year after it was sunk, fish have made it there habitat very quickly same with the coral etc

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
