so his is a drift car?

another thing is.. mine is circuit.. so it's lap after lap after lap after lap.... you get the idea.

fark I just need a good mechanic to advise me on this one... someone who does what i do to the car, and does it week after week after week.

yeah but when sliding the engine is reving at a constant pace...with less air flow then when doing circuit......dont get me wrong pwr is good....but dont know if you need it.....alot a sliders use these radiators....the heat in a sliding car tends to be higher, cause of the lack of air flow.

ahh i got ya..

might i also ask why u put the VCT S14 engine in the 180sx..? just curious

if u want quality scourer around ns.com or yahoo japan for a ARC or HKS tripple core or something.. but im sure a cooling pro 40mm radiator would be fine

you know the saying.. the best track car is a stock track car... so I wanted to keep it stock and felt the s14 engine was better in it's stock form with the vct.. It was also cheaper to buy a sr20de silvia and put a decent engine in it, than to buy a decent sr20det silvia.

crashed that, kept the engine and found teh 180 shell.

but now all logic went out the window when i put a gt28rs (ps i did this work myself shaney... you proud?!?!!?)... and realised what i'd gotten myself into lol

myeah dont spent that much if you dont have too

my brother has one of these 399 all alloy rads and his stays at 80C when he is sliding, and i believe it still fine, and he is in NT atm. depends what you think is over kill really.

think i might get one soonish too.. my rad coolant looks like pineapple juice atm  and ill prob pull the engine out for fun during the holidays.. :D

you have an oil cooler dont ya.?

i wouldnt run a standard radiator if ur constantly running her up..

40mm a minimum.. ARC FTW

i meant my headgasket is possibly gone too.

thats true.. ur up at 7000rpm and the air isnt flowing thru the front..

ahh.. ur on quite the budget arnt u.. what is the budget circuit car running suspension wise..?

and how is the 28RS for ya.. im planning on using either 2871R or GT3071R but soo many mixed biased sheepish opinions on ns.com im waiting for the GT3071R dyno results to come out

i find the VCT SR20 a lil quicker standard than the red top black top.. gosh they are noisey rattly things.. and pretty gay to do injectors on. who did ur wiring for the harness?

so give the cooling pro ones a go, and if it doesn't work, I can just sell it and get a pwr one

you guys are so much more helpful than nsw

they've got no clue.

yeah cause we actually do work on our cars....not just take them to people....

oh my bad, i was still in engrish mode.

DONT BUY A R33 then lol

oh yeah.. that's a little bit bigger than mine! I'd be interested to know how that goes!!!

you should try jumping on to www.nissansportscarclub.org or silviansw.com ... they seem to be a more knowledgable crowd than the ns.comers!! All NSW based though.

I only drove the 28rs for 5mins.. but oh my goodness... even at 10psi my car was hauling ass!!! But I've never driven a car (other than buntas) that's had a turbo upgrade before so my view may be a little mis-guided.

my goodness yeah they're noisey.. for the first few months, I thought something was wrong.. but turns out it was just rattles until oil pressure got up there lol.

Grey Imports did my wiring.. and whole conversion.... and almost everything... twice... apart from the turbo (lol)

yeah i would, thats what i am going to go. yeah someone will take the cooler off you.

yeah cause we actually do work on our cars....not just take them to people....

i used to be one of those people until i did my turbo myself, and realised how easy it was! I took it to the mechanci to do the piping and realised i should have done it myself (coz it was so dodgy!)

oinnnnnoooo

how are ya chicko?

:sorcerer: i'm f**king excellent :D:P

u rang?

Oh hello darling :P

*burp*

f*k, everyone's in here today

morning fag

so are u using the S13 one..? the S14/S15 is an upgrade for SR S13 ones..

what engine is in the S13/180sx RB26.?

You coming to dinner tonight?

yeah and you wont regret it either, everytime i open my bonnet i say to myself "that is one sexy radiator there"

You're one sexy radiator :D

you know the saying.. the best track car is a stock track car...

I miss your 33 going around the track!

    • Fark what are the changes of that snapping like that, clean. Nek minnit, custom radiator goes in, with built in oil cooler like those discontinued PWR ones from yesterdeacades ago
    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
