Ok guys i'm organising a group buy for the GKTech front mount kits.

Starting 30/5 and ending in 2 weeks on the 13th/5 (or when we have 10 buyers, another GB will be started if this 1 fills)

Kits available to suit

S13/S14/S15

R32/R33/R34

A31

RNN14 GTi-R AND GC8 WRX!!

Details on the kits :

The front mount bar and plate intercooler kits are constructed entirely of high quality 6061 aluminum and the intercooler core is 100% vacuum brazed. The polished aluminum end tanks are hand TIG welded for a perfect fit. The ambient fin pitch has been adjusted to provide an optimal fin density of 15 fins/inch. This gives the intercooler excellent flow properties as well as a large cooling surface area, and the efficient Bar & Plate core takes advantage of these properties. The piping is all mandrel bent and contains only 1 weld mark throughout the whole kit. The kit includes 1x 600x 300x 76mm intercooler, polished aluminimum piping, all brackets, nuts, bolts, tripple layer silicon hoses, clamps etc.

The kits are designed to be installed DIY and are very easy to install.

Which pic(s) actually relate to R33 S2 kit?

Can we get some pics of the unit installed and comments from people of the last group buy/who have it installed?

When they get their kits and get them fitted im sure someone can post pics..

The pics in the post are the GTS-T kits :D

Hello I would like to know the size of the piping on the r33 kit thanks

2.5" mandrel bent polished aluminium

I look forward to hearing if they will fit a Foz!

Will let you know asap

We can't guarantee the fitment on a forester. These kits are

IDENTICAL to the Hybrid GC8 kits so if they fit, then so will ours.

Also guys, the hose clamps supplied in the kit are stainless steel, and great quality :D

The kits actually left the post office this morning and not yesterday afternoon. They were dropped off yesterday afternoon but unfortunately due to the 34 boxes that I needed to send out at the same time they couldn't have them all ready before the close of trade :)

Please post up when your kit arrives (should take anywhere from 1-5 working days depending on you location within Australia).

cheers,

Greg

I am pretty sure the Hybrid kits won't fit an SF5 Forester. Oh well

It really depends on how far the kits off from fitting on your car. If it is only a little bit of mucking around to fit on a different car than intended then it will still be a very cheap option over custom. If it's nothing like the WRX kit then it's best to go custom.

Only you can decide if it's worth it or not.

Greg

Problem is I am not 100% sure why it doesn't fit just know it doesn't. If I was in Melbourne I would just pop in for you guys to have a look but being based in Adelaide makes it a bit more difficult for me to do that. If I could russle up someone in Melbourne do you think you could take a look and let me know?

Hi Micheal, unfortunately it makes it very hard as the kit is designed specifically for the GC8 WRX.

As far as modifying it we don't know and wouldn't know until it is fitted to a car which would take a fwe hours to even determine.

If you're in a Subaru club or something like that, possibly someone on there can help? Maybe someone on there has attempted to fit a WRX kit to a Forester, as we just really don't know if it will fit, and can't guarantee if it will fit to a car other than specified.

Sorry for not being able to help you too much :(

Greg

OK apparently the kit will fit an SF5 Forester with slight mods, but it maystick out the bottom of the bumper, ideally for a Forester the core needs to be 600x260x76. I have posted a link to this thread on the gtrydaz forum as well now.

ok, so would you like a kit or?

That bit I haven't worked out yet $$$ are a bit tight at the moment, this is almost too good to pass up though, I might have a chat to my tuner about it and see what he says.

Michael

Common guys, this is a once in a life time opportunity! When are you ever going to find an excellent quality FMIC kit with EVERYTHING needed to install for $400?? Even if after 12 months it stuffs up just replace the core for a name brand and use the same piping!!! you will save $$$ either way...

Sarkis

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
