Not much point... for 7k you might get a stock rb25 engine into your car thats about it if you did it on the cheap. Good idea if you want the car for quiet along time and want to get 350+rwhp with the R32 gtst.

On the other hand 7k will get you 250+rwhp if you use your money wisely on the rb20 and if you want anywhere up to 320-330rwhp the rb20 will be fine which is heaps for rwd street car!

If your going for a convertion on a r32 i think the rb26 is a lot easyer to do than a rb25. Also you wouldnt need to spend $7000 to make a rb20 more powerfull than a stock rb25 and you less likey to do the rings on your rb20 if your thinking about running more than 1 bar boost.

try 5k at the absolute worst.

Motor & loom & labour to fit i would envisage a 5k or less pricetag. Its dependant if you fit an RB25 box or not.

For a stock turbo'd RB25 motor, the stock RB20 box will hold no problem anyway IMO. So not worth changing.

So yeah, under 5k easily

yeah cheers for the input, wouldnt a rb26 be pretty expenisve and would u need the different gearbox and other stuff like that correct me if im wrong. yeah i want the car for awhile its mint condition its got 20's on it but i wanna change them to bloody expesive for tryes. hyperdrive said id get the complete motor for 2.5k or 3grand, and instal is 1500, and they said wit the rest of them money do injectors ,z32afm, fuel pump, powerfc.

i think it sounds orright. are hyperdrive good, if herd really good stuf about em but i thought id ask u guys aswell.

Sorry I meant, rb25 + box + ecu/loom + install charges would get up closer to that 7k mark.

I guess alot depends on where u get the motor and who installs it!

Hyperdrive is excellent and only do top work  Check the 34 V-spec out the front if you are unsure along with the many other GTR's around that place!!

lol.. yeah

get the engine done, then put it in if you really want to go that way. I'd ask why though? that sort of power won't be that useable to drive around with..

You can get a basic rb25 engine package (no gearbox) for around $2k with loom and ecu..

My conversion cost $1600 for the engine loom/ecu and about $300 of the misc stuff I needed (labour was me therefore free). Bit of a special price though, guy sold his old car and just wanted it gone.

Hi i have a rb25det in a r32 it was worth it, all up it cost 1,400 and 3,000 for the 25 I have a r33 computer in it and loom, stock gear box and diff, stock intercooler stock exhaust the boost is a 11psi and it goes hard. i thinck a good 13.2 to 12.8

I could not thinck how hard it will go with all the mods eg. a good 310 rwkw.

Also we did the rear grads a bit bigger than a GTR looks tuff with the 19”s

I'm selling a NEO RB25 for $2500 but not in Perth sorry. That gives you an idea of what you can get. $1800-$2500 for the engine with loom, turbo, ecu, add $1500 for fitting and you're away. Call it $4000 but allow a few dollars for the unforseen.

How far could you take your RB20 for $4500? Probably a fair way... but would $3800 get you as far? Dunno.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
