Connecting Mobile Phone To Stereos

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how to hook up a mobile so that it comes thru your stereo speakers?

I've seen a few guys with it set up like that and when it rings, the stereo shuts off and lets you answer.

Do you need specific features in the stereo head unit or will any of them do this?

Any help/guidence appreciated.

Thanks

Birnie

Its called a Mobile Phone Car Kit

Most kit 's have their own mic and speaker, and will mute your radio via a mute wire, which most stereo's have.

You can in some cases get an add on that will allow it to come through your speakers also, but not a good idea in my opinion. Music Up load, call comes through load talking = lots of feed back.

Just get a good kit with the mute wire :)

There is of course another way to do it.

Pioneer have just released two head units that are equiped with BLUE TOOTH.

Dehp7850bt and Dehp9850bt.

The 9850 has a color screen, the 7850 has a blue OEL screen.

Head unit comes with external hands free microphone and is fully functional as a handsfree kit, as long as you have a blue tooth equiped phone.

Both units are fully featured, so I could recommend either to you.

If the head unit has a brown wire this is for telephone mute, on some head units you need to turn this feature on.

Simply hooking up a telephone mute wire wont make the sound come through the car speakers as was asked. It will only make the radio mute it's volume when a phone is receiving a call whilst in a handfree kit that is connected to the head unit.

Also, not all phone mute wires are brown, this can be illumination as well.

So, buy the Pioneer Bluetooth unit, compatible with amps, ipods etc..
