hey fellas

just got my gtr back the other week and im having dramas

iv replaced the standard turbos with 2530s and what the car is doing is when crusing in some times 4th but mainly 5th gear at 3000rpm u start to put ur foot down to acelerate to keep up with trafic as the boost starts to rise and engin revs reach 3000rpm the turbos start surging like fighting each other pushing air back and forth in to the air flow meters cauing it to dump a shit load of fuel u can put ur foot flat to the floor and it keeps on doing it the car doesnt go any where and this problem only occurs when crusing but under full throttle in lower gears its fine car produces 275 rwk i have other mods which include

power fc

sard 700cc inj

air filter piping kit

hks filters

hks pump

greddy inlet plenum

plazmaman cooler

hks cam gears ( still set to 0 deg)

standard afm's

hks reg

tommie fuel rail

hks dumps

hks exaust

5 inch cat

sard single bov

car is running 14 psi boost

if any one knows of this problem or has incountered it before your help would be greatly appreciated

regards

anthony

its known as compressor chuffing or shuffling

do a search on it, its been covered before

the custom air filter piping kit is the likely cause of the issue

also the stock bovs will be much better than the single sard, throw that in the bin.

try with the stock bovs connected and see if the problem still occurs

a quick elmination would be to take off the pods and piping kit for the pods and just drive around the block with the airflow meters opened mouthed. see if it occurs, if it does, then its the removal of stock bovs.

if the problem goes away its likely the pods / piping kit may be the gremlin

what did they do exactly? on the certain load points where it wold surge, was it a timing or inj change?

Can't give you a definate answer on that one, suffice to say the car was a little frustrating to drive beforehand and smooth as factory after. Give Croydon's a call and chat to Jim about it, as im sure he could explain what he did to the tune to overcome it.

you need to make the piping the same length from each turbo to the airflow meters.

but thats abit tricky.

also having a balance pipe joining the two intakes together helps aswell.

and yes no bov woks as quickly as the stockers . there sweet

Yes we have a balance pipe between the two intakes but it was there all the time, the two intakes are of different length. He almost tuned the shuffle out of the GT-RS turbo's now fitted and is confident of having it sorted once we put the balance pipe between the two exhaust manifolds.

So your adding the balance pipe now. Will be good to see the Diff

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
