Since petrol price is skyrocketting, can't afford to let my R33 keep running rich, therefore I am thinking of getting rid of my HKS SSQV atmo BOV. Can anyone recommend a good plumb-back BOV? Also, perhaps a dumb question, but would plumb-back BOV make flutter sound? I note that there have been some arguments that the 'flutter' sound is actually made by air bouncing back to intercooler - doesn't really make sense to me though...

Cheers,

DD

I'd like to know the same thing.

Seems my R33 GTST is using alot of fuel.

BOV

3inch exhaust (all the way)

Pod filter

Standard boost

How many K's do you get off a tank mate? I usually refil 50L every Tuesday night (Petrol at its cheapest) and that lasts be about 425 - 450 K's. Still takes around $75 to fill tho.

All I've got for mods atm is a Deceptor Pro BOV. Might try running it Full plumb back next week and full atmo this week and see the difference, will Keep you posted.

I've onlt had the car a week. Havent worked out kms/tank yet.

But i see the needle dropping a bit too fast. Of course, the first few days i was giving it quite a bit.

Does the BOV really blow fuel out ?

I notice when i'm city driving in 4th, doing 60kph, the rpm's show about 2200.

Does that sound high?

Mate you shouldnt be worrying about fuel economy, yours is awesome already.

I feel sorry for the guys with stockers who get like 250-300km's/50L if that.

you can still keep your HKS SSQ and plump it back!

there a guy on here sell the plump back adaptor!

all u neeed to find is pipe to plump it back!

he works at SHIFT performance @ Lansvale

Has anyone get one of these plump back adaptor? Is this original HKS item? How much? Also, dumb question, does it still make any noise?

BOV = POS. Waste of money. Run stock and save hassles with stalling and fuel.

If you want your car to make sounds then fit a pod...

that is just your opinion!

some ppl dont like stock BOV.

Pod noise is realy one of the anoying sound i ever heard.

I got no issue with stalling or fuel with HKS SSQ,

well that is my experience anyway!

yeah i get 300-350 on a tank but boost it alot too POD, factory blow off factory turbo on a RB25DE engine had it converted (by previous owner)

i like the sounds a POD gives your turbo, i wouldnt get blow off to scared to get it defected

I forgot to add backfire...

Anyway I was crazy for atmo BOVs etc... until I saw the havoc it was causing with my car... maybe I am harsh but for the money I wasted on buying/installing/removing the BOV... would I ever do it again? no thanks!

SSQ BOV's are rubbish...go for something like the turbosmart supersonic stealth version. Awesome BOV whether u plumb it back it or atmo it. Flows alot better than the SSQ (less lag) plus its an aussie company. Just my 2 cents

Just bought the SSQ plumb back kit from BD4, genuine HKS item for $35, but just the nozzle though. Still trying to figure out what kind of plumbing I can use to connect to the intake pipe.

In the mean time, I tightened the BOV adjuster, making the BOV not to vent on low boost. Now I can get flutter and whistle noise at the same time... sounds better than before I reckon. But by doing this, will I harm the BOV itself or the turbo?

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
