All,

Thought i would give my 2 cents worth.

I am with just cars with 60%NCB full comp 24yo for just under 2k and covered with all mods.

Dont know why i got a 60% NCB as i was only insured with them 3rd party on a VLT 1 year before i got my Line.

cheers,

cheers to mrbenno for posting up about the places he called. i normally dont check this area but am glad i did.

Called up vigils and the premium is like $30 more than i was paying with Just Cars however my excess has come from $2000 down to $1000 so i figured i had may as well change. So i am much happier now well i will be if i have an accident anyways :D other good thing was the agreed value, free 24x7 road side assistance and all my mods are covered (Note they must be legal).

One other thing is anyone actually insured by Vigil i wouldnt mind hearing some feedback. The customer service seems good the 24x7 road side assistance is a bonus only downside was having to wait on phone for a good 10 minutes but i guess thats a good sign they are busy ;)

mrbenno, I think I spoke to you today. It's Matt, I work for Shannons :D

PM me if you need any more assistance, happy to help!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your call, I have not received anything in the mail from Vigil so I will most likely be insuring through Shannon's some time this week. The service from Shannon's has been good so far, less on hold times then with Vigil and you actually send out paperwork for insurance, I have recieved no paperwork and no phone calls from Vigil regarding my apparent insurance cover.

I just spent the last 15 mins on hold and finally got through to Vigil, they are resending my insurance paperwork now, damn postal service!

If I do not receive my papers by friday then I will be calling you back, thanks Matt.

In regards to a previous posted question, Vigil charge no extra to pay by the month.

I found the same i was on hold for a good 10 minutes or so each time i called them. However they did call me back when i first requested a quote within about 4 business hours which i thought was good.

Also i was told it does cost extra to pay by the month maybe just double check that

It's sort of hard to say as I guess anything that is not engineered is probably illegal however I think they mean obvious type things eg lowered more than 10cm from the ground, exhaust note more than 100db's or whatever it is... as I said most things probably are however I guess in most cases common sense should tell you if its illegal or not

Hey guys,

Does anyone know what insurance companies classify as illegal mods???

Will this cancel your insurance if they are on the vehicle??

thanks guys :)

its not up to an insurance company to tell you if your mods are illegal, thats up to the owner of the vehicle to decide etc etc.

Working for Shannons, I can tell you that we will list all your mods on the policy and do state in our policy wording that we will cover all legal modifications.

If you have illegal modifications fitted to your car, and your have an accident/make a claim, as long as the 'illegal' modification was not the direct cause or reason for the claim, then you will be paid out etc etc.

We have many highly modified imports with us, including a few from SAU too :)

Got a quote from Shannons insurance & spoke to _8OO5TED_ (Matt- Fantastic bloke). They are definately the best for me. Just over $1600 per year for my modified R32GTR with an agreed value of $29k. Pay by the month with all the mods listed. Cant thank Shannons & Matt enough!!!. :starwars:

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
