Can anyone tell me who is the person to contact from shannons on here my car arrives in 2 weeks and i want to insure it very shortly have sent pm's to boosted and gtr soul who i was told were the guys to talk to but have had no reply in over a fortnight

any help much appreciated

can anyone tell me who to contact for an online quote? its a bit hard for phone at the moment as im overseas. I'm having a hard time getting agreed value and additionally because my car is back in melb its not insured and registered (cancelled those before i left). JCI and shannons wont give quotes through email etc. but dont seem to give agreed value if i change the options around a bit to say its already registered.

Hopefully you get a response, otherwise I can dig out an email address for a contact I used there - except it's at work. I think his name was Brendan?

Emails are better than speaking over the phone for making a contract - it's all recorded as it went. Although domestic undwriters probably prefer to know who they are speaking to, hence the phone thing.

bugger.. got the shannons renewal today and it looks like the r32 agreed value dropped quite a lot :D like 1.5 or maybe 2k (will have to dbl check)

(although the premium dropped around $40 a month which is good, possibly 'no claim' & age related)

thanks a lot gtr-32 mate, its too hard for me to go by phone just for quotes, obviously ill make the effort to wake up in middle of the night if its to arrange a contract or something, but to go around rining around for quotes its a bit hard. ill email the address u gave me.

cheers mate.

Two40,

Just out of curiosity, does your Famous policy cover you as a daily driver, or is it "weekend only" like Shannon's ? I'm in Sydney, rating 1 (70% NCB), low-risk postcode, over 30 & my best quote has been $2100 from Suncorp-Metway - and the car is totally stock !!

Also do they have the "10yr old" clause - where if your car is more than 10yo whilst under the policy, said policy then becomes null & void ? (beware of this trap !).

Forgive my interrogative style, but usually when something appears too good to be true it often is.

Cheers.

OUCH! I got quoted $1099 for a GTS-t by JustCar (Im 25)

today i called every insurance company conceivable. None would cover me except for just car. my own fault though, i only had my licenbce for a year and ive lost it for 3 months of that :P and in the same accident had a $15,000 claim. some of them just didnt cover imports, some didnt cover young drivers, some didnt cover young people in turboas and the rest combinations of those. and the ones that probably would of covered me were dettered by my accident history. ( only the one ) so now im stuck with a $2639 premium and a $2500 excess:'(

heres hoping i dont have any accidents lol

Wtf.

I've had my license for 5 months (haha) and no claims or fines (as you'd assume @ 5 months) and my premium WAS $2800 but was raised to $3500 because the car is financed.

God damn Just Cars being the only ones that'll insure an 18yr old.

For a R33 GTR with minor mods, i found JCI to be the cheapest for my situtation.

21 y.o. male

Location: Bankstown/Yagoona area

Daily car

Private use

No Claim Bonus 60+%

No claims or thefts and no suspensions

Obtained licence in 2002

Amount covered $30,000

Premium Comprehensive $2,036

Excesses

Standard $600

Plus Vehicle $1,000

Age Excesses

Male Drivers Aged 16 - 21 $700

Excess is abit steep, but the premium is what i found to be fairly cheaper then the other quotes ive received.

lower premium is more important to me, cos even though thats why we get iunsurance no one plans on having a major accident, so hopefully i will never need to claim, therefore pay my excess

Big props to GTRSOUL!

He gave me a call in under 2 minutes after receiving a PM with my contact details, and was working on a deal for me right away!

Customer service A++

^_^

P.S. Sorry I took so long to post hehe

lol thanks but i already know that, that wasn't my dilema

i emailed admin@justcarsinsurance and got a message back after 1 week saying the message wasn't delivered. so the address is right but yeh =/

Their website just says no to under 20's, so give em' a call.

If my car wasn't financed I wouldn't bother with comprehensive right now, at 3.5k its almost 1/4 what I am paying for the car.

yeh but what if car gets written off ? i know no one plans on it but no one is phsycic

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
