Rich Fuel Mixture

Recommended Posts

hi i was wondering if its normal for skylines to run rich at idle. I have a r33 det and at idle it smells really rich and under full throttle their black smoke out from exhaust. I have recently had my engine plus turbo rebuilt and know its not a mechanical fault. B4 my engine let go I had the same problem with richness, standard comp. and ecu is being used. Where do i start to look and would a afc do the job for me. thanks deano

Skylines = rich. Thats pretty much all there is to it. If your sensors are farking out on you, it will run even richer then normal.

Do a search for PowerFC and read a bit about it. Then go out and buy one. Tune it and problem solved.

Maybe try replacing the water temp sensor first (much cheaper than a PFC). If that sensor is not working, the ECU thinks the engine is still cold, and delivers much more fuel than for normal operating temps.
