As the subject suggests i have a HKS kit for sale. Uses a HKS tubular (but cast for strength) manifold with HKS external wastegate. Garret TO4E turbo with 0.6 comp and big turbine. Kit is pretty much as new. Turbo just come back from a Garrett dealer with a thumbs up and the whole things has been cleaned and bead blasted (looks like new). Pic attached and plenty more on request. email me on [email protected]

Rob, good for between 400-500hp depndant upon boost. The 57 trim TO4E wheel has a wide efficiency island so you can run it hard or easy and still get good figures from it.

BOA2ME, Yup the turbine is fairly large, set up for top end drags. No prbs getting a smaller a/r turbine though, TO4's are pretty common. Comp wheel is pretty standard size for 400+, i have similar on my 3SGTE (2 litre 4 cyl)

Thanks DABIGBOLF (?),

It is an awesome price. I've just bought a house and need every dollar i can scrape together, hence this an many other very nice bits i had stashed away for a rainy day have to go asap. Just the HKS wastegate goes for nearly a grand so yes it's cheap.... but good

This thing is laggy in it's current form as it's set up for drags. With an electronic boost controller (Power FC). Full boost (1.3 bar) came on around 5000rpm. There was usable boost below that but the full boost hit was pretty hard. For drags and burnouts and general hoon fun this is a great setup. For strong mid range i'd advise finding a smaller a/r turbine.

This setup was on an RB25DET. Yup, as i've said it is currently laggy but gives awesome top end. To get better response it's just a matter of changing housings, you wouldn't need to change the shaft and turbine wheel, it's just the current large a/r. Exchanging the housing would set you back maybe $200 depending on where you could source it. If anyone is serious about a purchase i'm happy to help them source a new housing if they want one.

At this price you're practically getting the turbo for free, a coupla hundred bucks invested in a smaller housing shouldn't be much of an issue?

I just got off the phone to Bill at ATS in Adelaide (turbo guru) and he gave me some interesting advice. While a smaller housing is optimum he said that just blocking off one of the twin entry ports with a thin sandwich plate is a surprisingly effective way of achieving the same result (faster spool up). I commented that it sounded a bit agricultural and he agreed but said you'd be surprised how effective it was. I guess it's like log manifolds, a bit dodgy but work 90% as well as a full equal length systems. Anyways, i thought that could be a could intermediate measure for anyone interested while they waited for the right size turbine housing to turn up. Changing the housings over at a later date wouldn't involve any extra fabrication as all the mounting points are identical. Food for thought.

I got a standard (i think) t04E on my RB25DET.

it's got a A/R 60 on the comp cover.

it hits full boost about 4300 - 4500.

on the RB20... the turbo i have spools around 5300.

But again the exhaust end of things can be modified to suit.

The car made 190 Rwkw on 9 PSI at 6,600 RPM

Car is super driveable and economical if your just crusing along.

And heaps of room for improvement with only 9psi making that power.

Got damn it hits hard... would recomend this for a serious upgrade for RB25's.

$2000 g's is mighty cheap too..

*free plug from my own enjoyable expiriance*

Ohh.. yeah, boost hits hard and hold solid.

just fry's tyres in 1st on 9psi at about 5500... and that's just from a dead standard launch and just putting foot to floor...

on 15 psi i'd guess 1st/2nd/3rd no worries

What 1/4 time did you pull if that RB25 was in a Sky... ? (on a side note)

The car never made it to the track (officially), was never registered actually. Did have quite a bit of illicit fun in it though. G-tech gave consistent sub 13's (all over the 12's) but we never the had tyre/suspension setup even close to sorted. Hmmm wheelspin, pretty much in any gear if you wanted it :-)

I agree this is an excellent price. I would buy it now and change the housing to suit so I could get full boost around 3500-3800rpm, but I wont be looking for a turbo for about 9 months. Still plenty of mods for me to do to prepare my car for the turbo :D Shame, as I've been looking at new garrett turbo's with an internal wastegate with a t3 flange so they bolt onto the stock manifold for around the same dosh as this one which has external wastegate and manifold. Great price, wish it was 9 months down the track :D unless I win lotto this weekend :D

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
