what do u mean by beat???

0 - 100, are pretty comparable. Both are low 6's i think, 6.1 or 6.2.

If u want to compete in EVERY field, then i'd prob be thinking some supension/brake work for the GTS-T to keep up the WRX, but straight line i'd image the R33 would have it mid to top end, but the WRX might have it low down due to the AWD grip.

So get urself some grip cos the skylines are very susceptible to mods, so u gotta get that power to the ground, supension for the twisties to keep up with the WRX and i think u should be sweet.

but it also depends on what u mean by "beat"

A healthy stocker GTST whill whip a stocker rex if you launch it right & don't dawdle with the gearshift. 4wd's inherently bog down on launch & this is your window of opportunity - Skylines longer legs will do the rest.

Yep, have run a few WRXs, including some with comparable mods to my own (exhaust, pod, boost) and have pulled away easily. In 100km/h rolling starts there is no competition, the R33 will blow them away. A point of note, not many WRX owners will dump the clutch at high revs from a standstill, due to the well-publicised gearbox issues (and replacement cost) they have, so off the line shouldn't be an issue either :)

A WRX will eat a GTS25t in the twisties though, partly because of 4WD and a lighter car, partly because the stock suspension in earlier R33s will be rooted by now (mine is). And don't even think about chasing one up a dirt road... :D

WRX vs GTST.

Stock for Stock A WRX will get the gtst everytime.

you cant compare AWD launches to 2wd launches.

AWD launches pretty hard.

Rollling start its comparable was the wrx is much lighter.

I guess it comes down to what mods you have.

an exhaust and boost is all you need to beat a "stock" Wrx on a rolling start.

it depends on the driver... ive run a few WRXs (stock apart from zorst) in my R32 and passed them by 3rd gear.... they got a little ahead on the launch but after that i was gaining on them with every second

I race on private roads and the drag strip....

The WRX's can be quite fast. Lets face it alot of them are modified.

WRX's I've run so far I have beaten, they for the most part launch well and have plenty of legs. The top end on a good worked WRX is very good. I know that there are plenty of good WRX's around that will hand me my ass, I just haven't encountered one yet.

It's interesting to note that I don't have as much trouble on the street than the drag strip getting a good launch. This takes alot of shine off the WRX's I've ran.

Pretty much everything above is just stipulation.

If you put 2 GTS-T's side-by-side 9x out of 10 they will not be putting out the same power. You could have up to 10% more power than the GTS-T beside you. You also might have got a bad batch of fuel which could totally ruin your chances.

Like Ed said above, I also prefer to chase people down.

Give them about 1.5 car lengths and then just put it flat (on 7psi) and watch them sweat it.

Like Rev210, leave it for the track where conditions are as much identical as possible and then start your laughing.

Same here. Even worse are R8 and XR6 turbo drivers.

Most are middle aged men or mothers that drive em . That goes for rexes as well.

On the wrx thing. On the very rare occasion I've come across one that actually drives the car as it should be driven, they always have pulled away on 1st, but in 2nd they are weak and the line has just been in front

Last time I went to the drags there was a speedworks modifed integra R.

It did a flat 14. It might have got a 13.9 even?

lots of the skylines on that night did low 14's and worse. Including people with FMIC's on stock turbo's (no suprises there)

This means some of the honda integras with a corresponding amount of $$ spent will beat skylines.

Most modded WRX's at the drags run 12's & 13's, as such the GTS-t boys running 14's don't have a chance, rolling run or not.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
