Nissan (Infiniti) have done that already. The new V36 Skyline/G35 is a Lexus IS350 and BMW 330 competitor now, in the true sense. I posted up something about it in the Japan section.

Yeah, there's a Road & Track review I read. Even though the G35 is faster, they still gave it to the BMW for being a slightly more responsive vehicle or something.....

in fact Hornsby still have their GTR sign up after all this time....didn't really help them.

Its been taken down in the last few months. Drove past there some time in the last 3-4 months, and notice that the GT-R logo has been replaced with a red Nissan one.

So........who is going to put a GTR35 next to a Tiida in a showroom?

Still think their having us on.....we are never going to be able to purchase one out of Nissan in Australia.

We have such small numbers to move and we are such a large Country, the logistics don't pay.

I mean what are they going to do with the second hand Jap.ones they have to sell after 5 to 7 years  .

I am waiting for an old Japanese executive to drive mine around for 5 years, breaking in the motor nicely

and Nissan to have addressed all the teething problems with it during this time.

Then I will buy it at Auction and land it in Australia for around $50K........2013(So what I have a gtr now)

So anyone still looking at buying one for 200K and having to sell it after 5 years for 50K :) ...

So who are the dealerships that have waiting lists for the new GTR? Can someone PM me some info on who to contact, I would feel like an idiot walking down to the local Nissan dealer and having them ask WTF am i going on about. I will be trading in the R33 for one of these when they come out.

R34s were $125000 NZ in 2001/2 from the Nissan dealers which I think was just over $100k in $Au at the time. Here at the time R34 GTRs were $150k AU. So if it comes in through Nissan it should be cheaper than what the importers would initially bring it in for.

Not that I expect the next GTR to be cheap but it may not be as dear as everyone expects.

V35 infinitis/skylines - 3.5 AWD sell in the US for $30 - $33K which works out at $37-$41k Au, which would be pretty competitive here for sure.

NZ has no car industry to protect, hence the taxes/tariffs/import duties, whatever... are practically non-existent compared to what we pay on our cars here. Even have to pay a luxury car tax over ~$56k, which the GTR will also attract.

So even if Nissan oz sold the R34 GTR here, it would still be would have been a lot more expensive compartively than NZ.

Will still be $150k+

Yeah, but there's no way it would go for that price. We don't have the US' economies of scale to get those kinds of prices.

The 350Z is USD$33K in the US, and AUD$67K here. They might get more volumes bringing in the AWD Skyline, since its a mainstream family sedan and not a 2 seat coupe, but you still probably won't get much change from $60K.

That said, if the Liberty GT and Mazda6 MPS can sell at that price, I think an AWD Skyline would be a good buy at that price.

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
