Just car

Rating 1, 16K "agreed" value, 1200 excess, 1000

Do not compair Shannons to Justcars, they are leagues appart.

There is a WA guy on the forums that works for Shannons, does awesome deals, give him a PM:

_8OO5TED_ (real name: Matt)

He will call you from work and sort out your insurance

Whats the car and details?

I cannot recommend Shannons highly enough. Matt from here has been superb so seeing as you are with them, I would stay. Actually upon re-reading, it is the guy Al is recommending above.

My Evo is $1300 fully comp with 3 other named drivers and agreed value. Very happy indeed and no extra to pay by the month. I am Rating 1 protected.

Yeah shannons in WA is the way to go. Chris (GTRSOUL) organised everything for me.

They even insured me with my driving history! (2 court cases and a few fines here and there)

I previously insured my r32 GTR with Just Cars: Rating 1 - Full Comp - $21800 agreed value = $1300. Excess was around $900

Now with Shannons its agreed value of $25000 with premium of $1500. Excess (from memory) was about $800.

To me it made sense to spend $200 more and get an extra $3000 cover.

By memory i think Just Cars (a part of AAMI) and Shannons could only insure me(GTR)

Shannons has excess lower than that ,I nominated only myself and have only a $500 excess and they give one free windscreen replacement every year. But then again I am 39 with no claims or traffic infringements(Knock on wood)

Yes an agreed value is the way to go .I have $35000 on mine(Its hard to find a good GTR33 at that price though)

not sure why some of you are having a cry

i was 21 rating 6/just cars (my previous insurance on my P's was under my moms insurance so i never got any rating points for those 3 years)

and i was paying $3200 to just cars :)

now 2 years on.. im paying like $1900 to shannons

Wow! I wonder if anyone can beat that $3200!

Is that $1900 with a rating 4 now?

How much would be expected to drop from my ~$2400 when i go to rating 4 (knock on wood making no claim)?

after a yr with just cars when i changed from rating 6 - 5 i was paying $2200.. i doubt yours is gonna drop $1k though

you should speak to shannons though, there excess is about $1000 cheaper than just cars, and they let you pay monthly :)

Like Al said, speak to _8OO5TED_ on SAU and he'll fix you up

Thanks for the heads up! But i've already PM'd _8OO5TED_ and got referred on to another user of the forums to help me out - but it was too late unfortunately for that time being. I'm not so fussed with Just Car ATM, i might consider changing companies down the track though.

Cheers for your reply!

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
