There are alot of alarms that would happily support a turbo timer, if you already have an alarm then you should ask the installer for some advise.

I have been told that the most pain in the backside to be compatible with car alarms are the blitz turbo timer.. I have used a apexi TT (Turbo Timer) pen style type with a mongoose alarm (?) before and its dodgy ass... it needed a relay so that it can lock up the doors while the turbo timer happily hums away. I have a baby pivot TT with a brunt alarm and they both works happily...

Alot of people already mentioned about the legality about it, just depends on which officer that you get pulled over.

On the automatic/non automatic part.. I assume you are referring to TT that can sense how hard you have been driving the car and adjust the timer accordingly instead of ones where you set a time.. Again The apexi one you need another plug in (or whatever you call it) wouldnt get it.. the pivot one rocks.. it lets you set two normal non-auto timer (mine is set to 5 min and 10 min.. I use the 10min one to warm the car) and the auto part (I use this normally when driving).

If you have a turbo, I would recommend you to get a turbo timer, as a health thing for your turbo. :( Remember a few things....

1) make sure the handbrake part is hooked up (what this does is, if the turbo timer is counting down and handbrake is released the turbo timer shuts off, good as an anti theft)

2) if you have an alarm, make sure you ask the alarm installer on what turbo timer they would recommend that would work/compatible with your alarm

A good one is when you can lock the door while the turbo timer is running, an alarm that has a build in turbo timer or an alarm that is dual staged like the nemesis.

Just me 10c worth..

Well done

My combo was the Apexi TT and viper alarm and worked a treat, locked the car while the TT was running the imobilised the engine once it stoped. a full walkaway system

>_<

Yeah ill definetly get a turbo timer, when i get my turbo car. And i have a stocko alarm system but it is pretty descent and a stocko imobiliser. So ill have to find something compatible, and i want a full walkaway system aswell lol. I dont care legal or illegal.

Hey hey, for such a dumb thread its been viewd more then 250 times. Just cause its dumb to you doesnt mean its dumb to some other people, not all of us on this site are car experts. :)

cry cry cry,

i got slaughtered for asking dumb questions when i first came on here,

most of us have done it, who cares. if someone says its a pointless question, just build a bridge and get over it. and its been viewed 250 times because its title is 'what is this thing called, and how much', it is a very broad topic title

and anna no to snap and swear at me either!

Just because you got "slaughtered" that does not mean you have to do the same to others too, being on the receiving end you should already know what it feels like.

as far as i knew the turbo timer is legal.. as long as u dont go 20 metres (car outa sight) untill it turns off..... Pfftt..

i have a question too.....

damn you neosaber. u copied my joke...

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
