Hi guys,

I need to get a tailored or custom car cover for the GTR. I want one preferably cotton or with a flannel inner to protect the new paint from dust and shit whilst it's garaged. Doesn't have to be water proof but it may as well be.

Anyone know of a place in sydney? and any experience with them, or prices?

thanks.

use some of that spray on latex you have in your bedroom

Hahahaha

Richard, i saw one at Supercheap for $25 or so that fits my GTR well, but its not water proof

I know its not ideal, but ive got a heap of fabric ready to stich onto it so the underside is very good for the paint - may look like shit but it will work

I had a look for a cover exactly like you suggested but couldnt get anything that i liked

Hope that helps

I'm using an Autotechnica one from K MART (think it usually goes for about $130). I just use it in the garage but it would be great outside also as it is very thick plastic / pvc and is then lined with some type of material similar to flanellette. Covers the whole car to the ground.

you used it all on your right hand last time you were over here you sick puppy.

steve, that could be promising.

2rismo, any contact details for them?

Yeah, its not the most glamourous but works - and thats what is most important

Best part, the price!

it's ok. i googled that shit.

I will give them a call.

Years age we were looking for a place to buy a cover for the old man's Audi, which only gets used around once or twice a fortnight, we ended up using a few old flanelette fitted bedsheets sewn together, which works a treat. The car is always indoors, so we don't have to worry about wet weather protection anyway.

And now I find out that this place is LITERALLY around the corner from us... Might have to go and check it out.

The same place Richard is talking about? Small world!

I have one of these and I think it's great. Anyone that knows me knows how anal I am about paint and scratches too.

I bought it when I had an integra (so it's the small version, doesn't fit the 'line.. doh!).

It has a soft lining on the inside, is waterproof, and has breather holes with "flaps" to stop the rain from getting in, and stop condensation underneath the cover.

Car covers are a pain though. Do not EVER put a car cover on a car that has a warm engine... anyway, I'm sure bb knows that.

The Autotechnica covers are also available at Repco.

thanks wil, i will check those out. I am pretty set on a tailored one though, I just want it to fit perfectly. but i'll have a look anyway.

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
