Clutch Problems

I recently replaced the clutch in my R33 GTST skyline. The new clutch kit consists of an Xtreme pressure plate and heavy duty organic clutch plate. the flywheel is a Xtreme Cr-moly item and weighs 5.5Kg. the whole assy is smaller than the high performance Nismo clutch i pulled out. the diameter is the same as stock on the new one but isn't as deep. also got a new thrust bearing. the problem i'm having is while the engine is running i can't put the car in gear. the clutch isn't dis-engaging fullly. i was wondering if anyone out there has had this problem before. i've checked over the hydraulic side and found a faulty master cylinder. I replaced the master and slave cylinders. anyone have any ideas? i'm an apprentice mechanic so i know what i'm doing but this one has me stumped. HeLp!?!?!? thanks... I've also put calls in to various mechanics in NSW that work on skylines everyday and they think if it isn't a hydraulic issue the next thing is the thrust bearing carrier. does anyone have any sizes for the carriers as i've been told there are about 10 different ones

I had the same problem when i installed my clutch.

To fix it i just adjusted the clutch pedal, make it so it pushes the clutch in furthur.

(There will be a bolt you have to undo a bit, if you have a look under there you will see what is needed)

I tend to agree with the "various mechanics" - it's a problem of the wrong carrier.

You will need to pull the gearbox out anyway, then take measurements to work out which "height" carrier you need.

i was afraid of that... pulling the box back out. before that i think i might have to adjust the pedal a bit.. it feels good through the whole travel.. like from the top to the very bottom. its never felt that good. This is so crap guys!! a car like this wasn't built to sit in the rear carpark of a mechanics workshop while the owner figures out the problem.. ITS NOT RIGHT

can anyone tell me if this is a twin plate clutch? i've only every seen them in magazines and assembled.. this one seems to be sealed. as you can see from the pictures there are a few signs that it is indeed a twin plate clutch and if it is i may have solved the problem. so if you could take a few minutes to have a look at the photos and post a reply it would be greatly appreciated.. Excuse the pics.. they were taked with my mobile phone

Hey all... Sorry to steal the topic for a bit but ive been searching every where on how to adjust the clutch friction point, and have read few threads that all say do a search, i have a feeling those threads have been lost or deleted can any one give me a few hints how 2 adjust the clutch ? P.s is this link accurate ?

you need the standard release bearing sleve.

24mm from memory. (the thing the thrust bearing goes on)

nismo uses 20mm

dont adjust the padal as its hydrolic and will only end up "pumping up"
